L here! (Photo from the day he was born).

A bit of a (long) vulnerable post. I hope a few words of my honesty might give someone else a bit of confidence.

Here we go… 2 months postpartum thoughts. I find myself staring at my body in frustration of what to wear… what will fit and simply not loving the way I look.

Leggings are the go to, oversized shirts to hide my belly, & confidence dragging. I sat on my bed and cried recently, when I attempted to put on pajamas that use to be oversized on me, and now I can’t get them past my hips.

I have a C-section scar across my torso that will be there forever. Rolls & stretch marks that are now just my body.

Not only is my body physically adjusting, but also hormones, thoughts, fears, & everything in between. I’m constantly wondering if I’m doing enough… or maybe too much? All while trying to produce enough milk to breastfeed a very hungry newborn.

And then there’s also navigating marriage as new parents, together. I’m grateful for open communication & teamwork. Because it really does take a village.

Some friendships have shifted, new friendships have been forged and old pals I haven’t spoke to in years are now apart of my motherhood tribe. Something I never knew I needed until I did.

But those stretch marks, scars, and intrusive thoughts are all part of us making a miracle... a little human. A new body, with a new shape and size. New hopes and fears & perceptive on life that’s grown so much bigger than myself.

Yes, I am still the same person but I’m growing, learning & prioritizing more than anyone could have prepared me for. The joy of having such a small person depend on you so much is the most rewarding and yet, exhausting thing I’ve ever have experienced.

So yes, mammas, our bodies and life may change but our important roles of mothers will always remain the same.

Really, in short… this is just a reminder, that you are doing great & you’re not alone in those moments of discouragement & exhaustion! And most importantly, remember to be kind to yourself & your body.

For goodness sake, you just made a human! And for that, we should be damn proud.
