It started with a book… and turned into a real-life adventure. 📖✈️🌎

After reading @tellmytalebooks , my daughter started asking if I could take her to some of the places she’d been reading about. And how could I say no to that?

First stop: San Francisco!

Seeing the Golden Gate Bridge in person was at the top of her list, and once we got there, she decided she wanted to see it from the water too. So naturally… we hopped on a boat! We also saw Alcatraz and ate the best fish and chips from @codmothersf

I love when a story sparks curiosity beyond the page and turns into memories we get to make together.

Now the question is… where should her books take us next?

For the last year, Fork & Score has been searching for the best fish and chips in the Bay Area, from San Francisco to Pacifica, San Jose to Santa Cruz, Monterey and beyond.

Most folks head to Fisherman’s Wharf for clam chowder, and while there are definitely some hidden gems there, you only need to go a few blocks south to find one of my favorites in the city…👀

Codmother is a food truck serving up all the classic SF seafood staples and I promise this spot is SERIOUSLY underhyped. If you haven’t been yet, you need to 👏🏼

POV: A British man risking it all by ordering fish & chips in one of San Francisco’s biggest tourist traps…

And somehow…
it was actually GOOD.

The Codmother Fish & Chips genuinely surprised me. The batter was crispy, golden, light, and honestly better than half the fish & chips spots I’ve tried across California.

The fish was flaky, the portions were solid, and we were THIS close to having proper chips instead of fries.

Most tourist spots survive off the location.
This place actually backed it up with quality food.

A very respectable 3 out of 5 forks from your favorite Brit in the Bay 🍴🍴🍴

Now I need to know:

Fresh-off-the-Wharf fish, perfectly salty fries, and a glass of wine—all just a short stroll from Fisherman’s Wharf back to Kimpton Alton Hotel.

No reservations, no rules… just your kind of night in.
