POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I am a very busy person.

I don’t have time to write a bilious and verbose post today.

So I can’t go into any detail about how @cody__clarke has continued to impress and grow as a person and as an actor.

I can’t spend lots of time writing on the interwebs about how she is maintaining her youthful exuberance and playful joy at auditioning and performing, all while expanding her experience and maturity in approach, scope and application to her craft.

It would be remiss of me to use precious minutes on a Saturday morning to pay attention to her dedication, enthusiasm and sheer joy when asked to embody a character even for a minute.

So I won’t.

It is Saturday, after all.

And even nasty agents deserve a bit of a weekend. Well, some of them do.

So, rather waste everyone’s time writing a whole load of verbal effluence that not one person will read, I will just send a simple and efficient message to one of the most wonderful and amazing young people that I know. Even if she is not so young any more (!)

Happy birthday Cody. Or “Cheat Codes” as everyone* knows her.

*ok. Only me.

Ahhhhhh!

A little bit of magic for an October birthday today.

One of my favourite stories from setting up Red Kite Talent.

My little role is to help actors identify, and land, roles in productions. Big and small.

@cody__clarke came to me, still in school, and hoping to find her way into the world of acting. Still at school and working hard, however, the classroom was not where she wanted to be.

Who does? I mean, there are good classrooms and not so good ones. Hopefully we all take some nice memories away. Like a funny moment when a student calls the teacher “Mum”. Or that time that a dog is running around the playground.

But I find it hard to believe that anyone has a better school day memory than @cody__clarke.

Picture the scene. Maths class. Your phone rings. It’s Dan. Your agent.

“Passst. Cody? Can you take a quick call?”

Hang on Dan. I’ll pretend to be ill and have to leave the classroom.

Standing in the corridor outside of the classroom, trying to look like you are going to vomit, and hiding the contraband phone……..

“Hi Cody. Your are going to be Iona in the TV show @wednesdaynetflix but you can’t tell anyone.”

Imagine waking back into that classroom, sworn to secrecy, and deflecting all of the questions.

Fast forward to being sat in full costume in YOUR trailer dressing room and Dan comes to check how you are doing.

“Hi Codes. All good?”

Yeah. Just chilling and waiting for my scene. Did you know that @catherinezetajones and @jennaortega are in the next door trailers?

“Now, Cody. I need to be really clear on this. IT ISN’T ALWAYS LIKE THIS!”

What a fantastic job you did as Iona!

And do you know what? She didn’t tell anyone!

Proper sneaky. Proper cheat Codes!

Happy birthday Cody!

What a year it has been for our very own “Cheat Codes” @codycelineclarke!

I can honestly say that it has been a thing of wonder to see Cody navigate her way through an experience that not many 17 year olds find themselves in. And do it with the grace of a swan.

Cody, I know that everyone is so incredibly proud of the things that you have achieved, and that goes for everyone in the Red Kite Nest.

Happy Birthday Cheat Codes!

And say hi to the Ma and Pa!
