How I Met Your Mother 🎙️ And the truth is,

I’ve always eaten a ton, and gosh this man’s presence made me panic order the same TEXAS SIZED chicken fried steak, smothered in onions and gravy, with 4 sides plate at the Cotton Club in Granger, TX.

I couldn’t even hold my fork steady, I had never in my life been that nervous. He’d just beaten me in a game of pool TWICE cause ya girl hit the 8 ball in my first turn.

Years later I find out he asked me out for a second date the very next day because I’d impressed him by ordering food🤣🤣

And here I thought me trying to hold his hand because I literally imagined marrying him 3 hours into our first date is what sealed the deal.

Call me a romantic, but look at what God created after He commanded the sun and the moon + stars to light the sky.

And products they threw in for free as they do often🥹
Koala Kubs baby wipes, 2 baby shampoo+wash, baby lotion, diaper rash cream
and
2 Sei Bella Facial SP which my husband will be hoarding as he pumps concrete this summer.

We were already using clean products, but I couldn’t get over the price tags.

How many of my dollars were going towards these companies marketing budgets?

What was the markup from their manufacturers?

So many passwords and websites to remember!

Our Wellness Box arrives in days, everything I need under my roof, from one single website. And no markups from their business costs are out onto my family.

I can hardly do an inbox g before we have to tear into these orders, what would you order?

Obviously take this with a grain of salt but…

🤍 I tried to hold his hand on the 1st date, but he wouldn’t

🤍 We began discussing marriage 4 weeks in, and every goal and desire we saw in our futures

🤍 I bought my wedding gown 6 weeks in, and he was nothing but excited when I failed to keep it a secret

🤍 We flew 6000 miles for him to ask my dad for my hand, and we flew back home with my dress in the first class closet

🤍 We got engaged 7 months in, and he started preparing us for *marriage*

🤍 I called out toxic enmeshment in his family, and he established needed but costly boundaries

🤍 And the non-contestable factor that he is the most intelligent, peaceable man in the face of conflict, and has never failed to keep learning me and most importantly God.

So of course this is how our youngest greets her daddy after he worked all night 🥹

This app can display so much passive aggression towards men, and it’s often their own wives degrading them. It isn’t cute, it’s not a trend, it’s disrespectful. Go against the status quo and build your husband up.

I started filming him which he clearly is comfortable with🤣 as he began pointing out an electrical plant, the coffee shop we were in, and more in the heart of ATX that he’d poured. Nearly every time we leave the house we get to see something he’s helped create.

I know I need him, I value the blood, sweat, and injuries he accumulates working, I love being a listening ear.

If I expect him to listen and understand me deeply, I must also do the same. And I love it.

Drizzle honey over his life, ditch the tea. 🍯

Two days before Thanksgiving 21 years ago, my world exploded. 5th grade spelling ceased to be my biggest stress, I began having vivid nightmares surrounding the kidnapping and beating of my dad.

My tiny view of the world turned into hyper awareness that there were people who wanted to harm our family because of the color of our skin. Long story short we had to go into hiding and drive in the middle of the night to fly to yet a different foreign country.

10 years ago my husband’s family made it very clear I was public enemy #1, their harassment and assaults on my character caused me to spiral into depression and 11 years into it, we’ve been no-contact all but 3 of those years.

Identify your triggers you’re responsible for them. Read that again, it’s not meant to be condemning, you didn’t deserve your trauma, but you 100% must grab them by the horns and face them. Pursue healing, for me that looks like homeopathy and having solid Jesus centered friendships.

I used to say Thanksgiving was too painful to enjoy, I tried to just get through it. This year I’m fighting tooth and nail to let that pain burn out and create new and amazing memories with my family god has blessed me with.
