Day 11: Thursday, May 23rd

After a delightful breakfast at Ai Alba Lodge, we departed the lodge to head to the San Village where we got a tour of the village and a look into what life was like for the Bushmen.

Once the tour was complete, we loaded back onto the bus for a 3 hour drive to Swakopmund where we would be staying for the next 3 days.

Arriving to Swakopmund, we got settled and had time to explore the city (yes we mean shopping🛍️) before heading back to the lodge to meet back up with the group.

While we were supposed to be walking towards dinner, these Texas tourists saw the ocean and decided to dip our feet in as the sun went down. 🌅 Plot twist… we were drenched by the seventh wave but that didn’t stop us from having the best time and filling the beach with the sounds of our laughter.

Quickly going back to change out of our clothes, we freshened up and finally ventured to dinner.

Full of great food, we made the walk back to the lodge to end the night.

Day 9: Tuesday, May 21st

While some of us slept in to catch more rest, a couple of members of our group and our group leader went to watch the sunrise at the top of the tower at Okaukuejo Resort.

Soon after breakfast, we departed to start the venture out to Vingerklip Lodge. @vingerklip_lodge

Once we arrived at Vingerklip, we settled into our cabins and did some homework while we waited till it was time for our sunset hike.

The hike up to the top was long but beautiful. When we all reached the top, we sat around and waited for sunset while enjoyed each others company and the view. Of course we took the obligatory group photo then headed back down to the lodge for dinner.

With full stomachs from a delicious dinner, we all gathered up for another group reflection before heading to bed.

Day 8: Monday, May 20th

We started the day off with a slower morning where we sat the waterhole and had some individual class time.

After updating our professors on our projects, it was time for our evening game drive.

The game drive started off slower than usual but we were all having a great time together. Within the last hour of the game drive, we suddenly saw a lioness who reportedly had cubs a couple days prior. (Some of our group even got to hear them in their little den!) As we continued on our way after watching her for a bit, we suddenly came across a lion and a lioness after hunting.

The game drive came to an end with adrenaline and excitement rushing through us at what we had seen!

Following the exciting game drive, we all went to the waterhole for sundowner and observing the action there.

After dinner time, we ended the evening with reflections on our game drive experiences so far. #etoshanationalpark #namibia #namibiawildlife

Day 7: Sunday, May 19th

Today we sadly left Mokuti and continued on our adventure around Namibia.

We woke up and had coffee and breakfast (the omlets the chef made were 🤌🤌).

After breakfast it was back on the bus as we ventured through a different part of Etosha National Park. We visited many different waterholes on the way out of the park but it was very windy causing the animals to not be out as much.

Although the waterholes didn’t have much action, we still were able to see many springbok, oryx, native birds and impalas as we drove through the park on the way to Okaukuejo.

We stopped at Halali Resort for a bathroom break, to grab some lunch, shop at the little gift shop, and visited the waterhole.

After lunch and the waterhole pit stop, we were back on the bus and back on the road to Okaukuejo. We soon as we arrived, we all went to the waterhole to look at what was waiting around and spent some time observing the wildlife in their natural habitat until it was dinner time.

We had just sat down for dinner when we looked at the live feed of the waterhole and saw a lion was there so dinner was postponed momentarily while we ran down to see the lion.

After the excitement of all the animal watching, we ate dinner and all went to sleep.

some of the people and places that made this adventure so wonderful :)

Psalm 139

and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
10 even there your hand shall lead me,
and your right hand shall hold me.
