Well this past week definitely didn't go as planned... First, my main driving horse came up lame right before the Draft Horse Show, which was kind of a bummer but I'm glad Ward, the horse, is getting better. Second, our main hitch horse, Bar, laid down in the stalls at the fairgrounds and then he couldn't get up because he couldn't get traction on the asphalt. However, we managed to pull him up with the help of many kind people and a tractor, and then sent him home to rest. Third, the day before I had my only class at the show, I was kicked by two horses and then trampled before we decided that I needed to take a lovely visit to the ER. Nothing came up broken, and the doctors said they were very surprised and that I dodged an enormous bullet. But at the same time, this past week was amazing. I was able to perform twice with my drill team, the Wild Hearts, was able to braid the Percherons, got to meet some lovely horse people, as well as some great people at the hospital, and I think that everyone involved with this weekend needs to be appreciated. I got to see some old friends again that I lost touch with, as well as make some new ones. Even though I am extremely bummed about how some things turned out, I am also glad that it didn't turn out worse. And hey, there's always next year! I want to say a special thank you to my parents, who were helpful and supportive through everything. As well as to Coe, and Gary Finney who gave me this wonderful learning experience at the show and with the Percherons. And to all the drill team girls who were there when I got hurt, helped and supported me too. As well as to all my friends who showed up and made this past week special. I also can't forget the doctor, the nurse, and the radiologist at the ER who were all very considerate and kind.
