We are truly blessed in this life if we have even one person we can call a friend for life. I am one of the lucky ones.

Thirty years ago, I met Kathryn Ann Compton during spring rush at ECU, and something just clicked. Looking back now, she was exactly what my 19-year-old heart needed. Katy was fun, fearless, and carefree, and she loved fashion just as much as I did. But more than that, she helped me spread my wings and see the world a little differently. She nudged me to live a little on the wild side and reminded me that life was meant to be fully experienced.

Katy has always been a fierce protector and someone who never hesitated to question the status quo. When she was on my side, I felt stronger, braver. Truthfully, sometimes people had to go through her to get to me. She challenged my thinking, stretched my comfort zone, and gently pushed my sometimes-overly-cautious self to be a little bolder.

She was the friend I prayed for before I even knew how much I would need her.

Thirty years later, she still makes my belly hurt from laughing, still shows up when it matters, and still loves me in the steady way only a lifelong friend can.

Turning 50 is such a beautiful milestone. And somehow, I feel like I’m the one who received the gift…30 years of laughter, loyalty, memories, and a friendship that has stood the test of time.

Happy 50th Birthday, Katy. I love you deeply, and I pray that every bit of goodness this world has to offer finds its way to you in this next chapter of life.
You are the real deal, my friend. ❤️🐢

Real love doesn’t ask you to change.
It makes space for who you already are. #lovetheorywyattbrown

Smell of Spring by Aromatique 🌸
One of my all-time favorite candles…like a floral bouquet filling your home with nostalgic joy.

I’ve loved this scent for 30 years. It takes me back to my Chi Omega days…bowls of potpourri sitting around in the lounge of the Phi Theta chapter, laughter echoing through the halls, and the sweetest sisterhood you could imagine. So many great memories.

Isn’t it amazing how a scent can carry you back in time?
Sisterhood + the smell of spring = pure delight. 💐💕 Now, I’m going to have to get in attic and find all my Chi-O pics. ❤️💛

Yesterday was an exciting first day at the state tennis tournament! Zoey and Jessi won all their matches and are ready to go for gold today. In an unexpected twist, Zoey ended up playing against the daughter of one of my dear college friends. It was a little friendly competition on the court, but I’d choose my sweet friend Jenny over tennis any day. Let’s go, Day Two!
