How do you protect your hair in curls and/or a silk press?

We’re going on 24 days with a silk press and you’re probably thinking it’s time to give it up 😂. It is time for a wash but not just yet love…content has to be made lol.

Key things I do to help maintain a press:
📌 Silk pillowcases, scarfs and bonnets are your friend
📌 Brushing in the circular motion and up to do a saren wrap kinda thing helps keep the shape/body from the press.
📌 I place my hand in the middle to stop any more hair than necessary moving up but enough to create a cone like shape.
📌 Your hair should sit for a few seconds to allow you time to add your silk scarf and wrap it tight or this is your opportunity to use cling film and make sure there’s no air pockets.
📌The first few days I had it in hairbands along a ponytail with a silk scarf and pillowcase which is the easier to do if the saren wrap is too hard
📌 When it comes to showering one bonnet is not enough for me. I use a silk scarf, silk bonnet and two shower caps (see video for how I do it).

Are you afraid to go natural because you’re worried your hair will be too difficult to manage? ⁣

Having tighter textured curls and coils is not something that should cause you to run from your natural hair. Coils and kinks are 𝘢𝘣𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘶𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘣𝘦𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘶𝘭 and should be flaunted⁣

Sure, you might have to put a little extra work into learning and understanding your tight coils but there’s a learning curve with any new journey you begin, and natural hair is no different. You get what you work for, not what you wish for ⁣

Hair Textures: How many different curl patterns can you spot? Let us know in the comments ⬇️

Having multiple curl patterns is completely normal and shouldn’t be an immediate cause of concern.

The way in which you handle and style different curl patterns may require a little extra work. The tighter the curl pattern the more delicate it is. Extra care must be taken to avoid over manipulation.
