“Amsterdam is home to a new performance space. COKO Space: for inspiring artists and ideas that move the body and the world.
After dazzling performances by Avantika Tibrewal and Fernando Belfore, it’s now Kexin Hao’s turn on December 14th. So don’t miss out!”

Political Café
In Conversation about Asylum & Migration
Tuesday 03.02.26 7 pm
COKO Space, Prinsengracht 526 H
* wheelchair accessible

On 3 February, GroenLinks Amsterdam is organising a Political Café on Asylum and Migration, with guests including GroenLinks city council member Milka Yemane and artist Tina Farifteh. We will watch a short film by Tina Farifteh together and then engage in discussion during two panels: the first on the film and conditions in detention centres in the Netherlands, the second on what citizens themselves can do. Everyone is welcome.

Fragments from our last COKO Happening, 26 March:
An evening where the body became an archive, of memory, perception, and subtle defiance. Face and Fingers unfolded through 108 gestures, with face and hands stepping into the spotlight as quiet yet eloquent protagonists.

With powerful performances by Moe Satt and Liah Frank, the night moved between choreography, conversation, film and Lahpet Thoke (tea leaf salad) tasting.

Special thanks to Willem Velthoven for moderating the post-performance talk.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at COKO Space.

There is something sacred in the artist’s gift: the power to build a universe from nothing but thought.
In Surfacing HypoKrisia, Laban Trier opened the gates to his surreal playground, inviting our inner children to slip off their shoes and run wild beside him.

A big and heartfelt thank you to AFK (Amsterdam Fund for the Arts) for believing in COKO Space and supporting our programme COKO Happenings Dissident Bodies. As a young, independent space, this support means so much to us. It gives us encouragement and strength to keep building a home for performance art in Amsterdam, where artists and audiences can meet, exchange ideas, and imagine new possibilities together. We are truly grateful for your trust and support! ❤️

COKO SPACE TURNS ONE!

When we started COKO in September 2025, we hoped it would become a place where people could gather, hang out, discover artists, and celebrate the art of performance.
And looking back at our first year, we feel that this vision is becoming a reality.
Through the COKO Happenings, we’ve connected artists and audiences, given artists a space to create and experiment new work, and given performance art the space and attention it deserves.

We marked our first anniversary with BUST, a powerful work by Anna Riley-Shepard and Maria Pisiou.

Thank you to all the artists, audiences, friends, collaborators, and everyone who has been part of this first year.

Happy birthday, COKO!
