Sixth artist highlight!

“I’ve always wanted to leave some sort of impression on the world. I’ve never been very good with expressing myself with words, but always knew I had a way with art. I am fascinated by the chain of events that make up the world we live in, the things we feel and most importantly, the
people we become. Each piece is a reflection of myself. I take inspiration from my past experiences and the emotions I felt tethered to my memories. I cherish how these instances have shaped who I am today and strive to create the same feelings I felt through my work so others can have the chance to experience something in a similar perspective.

My work predominantly consists of mixed digital media including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Procreate while my physical works involve graphite, watercolor, ink, and materials from the world around me. Whether I work digitally or physically, I enjoy adding some sort of collage element to give my pieces a narrative. These elements are usually made up of
symbols and motifs that elucidate nostalgia such as the Frutiger Metro aesthetic, low-poly graphics, and 1-bit pixel art. My favorite shape to use are circles for the connection they have with the world. I see circles in the music I hear, the raindrops that hit puddles on the side of the
street, the buttons on my friend’s shirt, and endless other instances. Other than for composition, the familiarity circles provide make them my preference to incorporate in my work. Another key aspect in my work is using clothing to express my characters. My parents both work in the fashion industry so my love for clothing comes naturally. Whenever I draw my characters, I
always start with the outfit before drawing the face and hair which gives me the freedom to create a personality fully based on fashion. Patterns, fit, accessories and aesthetics all play a part in order to make this practice successful. The combination of media is a signature of my style as well as my take on how reminiscence plays a part of who I am at this moment.”
