Burning Man cuts through the haze of habit. Reminds me of my purpose. Shakes up the status quo. The endless pursuit of progress in the default world comes to a halt. Time moves slower. But fast too. Dawn breaks begging you to get on your bike to reach the farthest edge of the playa… frozen fingers reach for the hands of friends who you seem to always find at sunrise.

The internet has a lot to say about this place. Trying to condense it into a singular post or article is impossible. Even just a few years in, I’m still baffled by the whole thing. A social experiment? A temporary city? A blank canvas for the creative and genius? I love it all. I love it because it’s confronting. I love it because nothing here comes easy. I love it because I leave with new friends who inspire me to embody radical kindness and acceptance. I love it because I feel more myself every year I leave. I love it because this place helps me remember. I love it because it’s home.

This year I spent a good amount of time alone. I tried to remain open to whatever was in front of me. Boredom and loneliness followed … I resisted it (ouch!) thinking I was doing something wrong. Isn’t this supposed to be fun?! And when I finally accepted it, the void spit me out into the arms of old and new friends. The playa has a funny way of giving us exactly what we need. We danced, we cried, we shared soggy pb&js, ice cold oysters, fruit platters, egg salad, burritos, pancakes and more pancakes followed by sips of champagne, warm modelo and kirkland rosé… everything tastes better out there 👅 Our inner kids relishing in the absurdity of it all. What a hell of a swirl. Boat rides, white outs, hippie traps, you-name-it…. we welcomed it all. Some moments i’ll cherish forever and everrrrr. Until we meet again @burningman 🐰
