My favorite moment of the @northforkchampionship was @coldenmoo line through Jake’s.

The third photo specifically doesn’t express the magnitude of skill happening. It does show how calm he is skipping through the rock drop eddy though. Currently my favorite example of an athlete with poise and skill to be able to pull off a line like this amongst a group of savagely elite paddlers.

One month packed full of memories.

Straight from NFC, where I performed better than I could have imagined and raced alongside some of the most amazing people I know. Then heading up to BC, placing 2nd at the Callaghan race with @zack_mutton and winning the Calcutta for my parents. As well as running some amazing whitewater with the best crew in the game.

Finally finishing it off with one of the most burl waterfalls I have ever run.

Lots of laughs, stout rapids, and good times.

If the couple of baby steps I’ve taken to get back in a boat after two years lead me to weeks like this, that’s as much as I could ever ask for. We paddle, at least in part, to spend time with important people in important places and if the return of @northforkchampionship isn’t that, I don’t know what is.

Huge shoutout to the entire team that brought this event back, especially @rendezvousriversports , and to @immersionresearch for trusting me to get a few shots.

Congrats to everyone who took on racing and to @sagekayak and @tadcanoe for snagging the win!

Can’t wait to do it all over again next year🫶

Day two’s Semi-Finals at the North Fork Championship was all about speeeeed.

A full sprint down Jake’s to earn a spot in today’s final. Massive congrats to the racers who will be sliding down the ramp today.

@coldenmoo from Cabin John, Maryland USA cut his teeth in the freestyle World representing Team USA 🇺🇸 at the World Junior & U23 Slalom Championships in both 2012 and 2013. Turning his attention to downriver racing, he’s no stranger to the NFC Elite Division and is recently coming off an impressive 5th place at the @thelittlewhitesalmonrace .

Cole rivals anyone for the most meaningful days on the water working for the non profit @riostorivers and is the Logistics Director of their @paddletribalwaters program, an Indigenous led initiative to train tribal youth to become elite whitewater kayakers.

But don’t let his kindness fool you this 4X Tall Tee wearing beast is one of the nastiest in the game!

What is the best advice you have ever been given?
