2 years of Noise 2000

@sapporo011 skates his own DIY on the cover. Shot with a blurry Samsung flip phone camera, the spontaneous energy of the session humbled me – changing my perception on skateboarding for the long haul. Taken over a year ago, this image was saved for this very occasion.

@boblasalle – the Satan’s Dranochugger himself – was kind enough to take a break from torturing taste buds and eating curbs for a quick Q&A. If you haven’t already, watch the @satansdrano crew devour the streets and stain sheets.

After reading Simple Magic – the weekly skateboarding newsletter of @colenowicki – on the subway to work in Shenzhen, I found the motivation to start Noise 2000. His newsletter is much more critical and informative than my zine, but it sparked the initial realization that anybody can have an opinion in skateboarding. His talent is recognizable both on and off the board, and it is an honor to have him take part in this issue.

@wearnote shared his insights and behind-the-scenes thoughts on fashion. While the skateboarding meta closes out its baggy pants and big wheels era with hyper-aware throwbacks and humor, his straightforward videos give great lessons on self-styling.

@cherrysololife is a vlogger documenting her daily happenings, and frequently giving slice of life advice that is genuinely applicable in real world scenarios. Removed from the flashy self-advertising YouTubers of 2026, she carves out a unique, yet necessary voice for those needing a helping hand.

@nuggets104 is the quintessential skate shop. The store represents what it means to be core, yet not gatekeep in an outwardly harmful way. The personal curation and love of its owner is clear in every way.

I wrote about reconsidering what a skatepark can be, relearning tricks and roasting in the sun skating flatground at @beckettparkskatepark for Simple Magic.

I admire all @colenowicki does and I’m so stoked that my story ‘A great leveller’ is this week’s instalment of Simple Magic. Always an honour to make the newsletter, a greater one to be the newsletter.

Thanks @harrymeadley and @laura.l.fs for making this space happen and being down for the story, @smaclure for the expert perspective via @betongpark_ltd’s work, and @esthersayers and @glawter_snacks for having me involved with the recently published Skateable Spaces Audit, without the experience of which this story wouldn’t be anywhere near as fun.
