My favorite week of the year has come to a close at my second home with all of my favorite people. Camp Korelitz isn’t just another summer camp, but a community of people who deal with the same hardships every day. The 3am blood sugar checks, the site changes, and functioning as an organ everyday may sound impossible to some, but it’s just another day for us.

I can confidently say that I would not be the person I am today if I wouldn’t have found out about camp over a decade ago. The friendships I’ve made, laughs I’ve shared, and silly songs I’ve sang over the past week molded me into who I see in the mirror every day.

Every night at Korelitz we have a tradition called candle chat, where we light a candle in the cabin and have a conversation about a topic that the counselor picks. On the last night, I asked the kids “what does camp mean to you”? Of course, most of the answers were about having fun, and getting to feel “normal” for the week, but one answer stuck out to me the most, and that was “safe”.

I am so glad that I get the opportunity to try and change young peoples’ lives every year, and I can only hope that I do half as good of a job as my counselors did when I was younger.

Camp Korelitz might just look like another sleep away camp to some, but to everyone who gets the privilege of passing the entrance sign and stepping foot into camp knows it’s much more.

I love you Korelitz, and I’ll see you again next year ❤️

this organization has my heart. dance is something that i’ve been passionate about for as long as i can remember, but i haven’t ever had such a lovely outlet to express it through before finding DI. never thought i would be making (and TEACHING (!!!)) my own choreo to a t-pain song, but here we are??? what the heck?? especially when i have ZERO actual dance experience? cannot thank this org and everyone in it enough for presenting dance in the coolest possible way (and for giving me the BEST reason to look forward to sundays). i love you all so dearly, thank you for being so welcoming and joyful 💗💞💖💓💘

Just wanted to do an appreciation post. It was a short week sadly once again but a-lot of people make it special in so many ways from going through literally all the highs and lows together. From reuniting with old friends to making new ones. I’m glad we are all in this together I wouldn’t pick anyone else to share my week with. #bringoutthespritzers

That’s a wrap from Camp Korelitz, a camp for diabetic kiddos hosted by the ADA. It was an amazing experience to be around a ton of other diabetic kids, camp staff, and doctors.

I always thought managing diabetes was hard, but helping eight 12 year olds manage their diabetes was a TASK. Fortunate to have a lot of support from my co counselors and local doctors from @cincychildrens and beyond on site to give these kids the best week ever surrounded by other people who are just like them.

Missing my diabuddies already!
