Second half finale with the @baysoxofficial. Season 4 made for so many great moments and new relationships. Can’t wait to see what next season brings and to see some familiar faces back at the ballpark.

Flying Squirrels 6
Baysox 5

Did you ever think you’d see Bikini Bottom on Mountain Time? I sure didn’t! The Baysox showed off their SpongeBob themed jerseys for their Sunday afternoon showdown with the Richmond Flying Squirrels. They fell just short of a comeback win, dropping the contest 6-5. Plankton’s empire may have won this one, but there were still plenty of positives to take away from the game.

The main positive was the return of Mountain Time. Felix Bautista returned to the mound as part of his recovery from last year’s shoulder surgery. After everything he’s been through, it was great to see Felix enter to Omar’s whistle again and pitch. Regardless of how he did, it was just awesome to see him back on the mound. I consider that a win in and out of itself.

On the day, Aron Estrada and Wehiwa Aloy clobbered home runs. They went a combined 4-for-9. Vance Honeycutt had a big day going 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored and 2 walks. Sebastian Gongora had a monstrous day out of the bullpen, going 6 innings and allowing just one hit and no runs.

A seesaw battle ended in favor of Richmond, but there were still a ton of good things to take away from this game. Fernando Peguero went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI. Griff O’Ferrall had a 2-hit game that saw him lay down an RBI squeeze bunt. Vance Honeycutt had a 1-for-3 showing with a double and an RBI.

The camera captured a Joseph Dzierwa bump day for the very first time! The 6’8” Michigan alumnus took the mound and went 5 innings allowing just one run, K’ing 3, and walking only one batter. Gerald Ogando came in relief and shoved for 2 scoreless innings (5 strikeouts).

Enjoy some shots of the game and some shots from infield/outfield practice mixed in as well!
