Seton Hall Prep football picked up a huge win on Saturday as the Pirates upset No. 14 Delbarton 24-7 at the KAC! After trailing 7-0 early, the Pirates got all of their points unanswered, including 14 in the third quarter with Jameson Studer getting a scoop-and-score and QB Jaylin Bullock running for a 50-yard TD.

Tire Flips 🛞

We used tire flips all summer in the program, and the improvement from week to week was obvious.

Since the tire weight never changes, we progressed the challenge by increasing volume.

We started with 3 sets of 3-5 reps and built up to 5 sets of 3-5 reps. On the high end, some athletes were flipping the tire 25 times in a single workout.

He already owns 225 from the hang, but this was a PR attempt from the floor.

His first shot didn’t go because of a technical mistake—not a strength issue. Instead of getting frustrated, he regrouped, made the correction, and came back to nail the lift. ✅

That’s what I love to see. The PR is great, but the response after a miss says even more about an athlete. That’s where confidence and toughness are built. 💪

Chain Squats ⛓️

This summer we’re squatting twice each week:

Monday: Heavy Box Squats
Thursday: Heavy Chain Squats

When athletes squat multiple times per week, we don’t want every session to look the same. Rotating squat variations helps manage fatigue, reduce accommodation to a single movement, and expose athletes to different strength qualities—all while continuing to drive progress in the squat.

The exercise may change, but the goal doesn’t: build stronger, more powerful, and more resilient football players. 🏈💪

Chain Work ⛓️

Benching with chains is a great variation to add into your program.

As the chains come off the floor, the resistance increases throughout the lift, teaching athletes to accelerate the bar and produce force all the way through lockout.

Benefits include:
✅ Improved rate of force development
✅ Increased lockout strength
✅ Better bar speed and acceleration
✅ Accommodating resistance to challenge the entire range of motion

Just make sure the chains are set up properly so the resistance changes as intended.
