Juneteenth weekend Part 1 @theapexmuseum

My first time curating an event 🫱🏾‍🫲🏿 my first time celebrating Juneteenth in Georgia.

I felt like a lil toddler learning to ride a bike 😩 but the purpose 🤌🏽 the purpose was great and the tribe was aligned and the work was done it was time to vibe ✨️✨️✨️ Thank yall for every thought, every dollar, every blessing spoke, every bit of good energy yall put in the air for this event to be a success.

To be real, I'm not interested in being a martyr or an activist. But being myself? Being myself OUT LOUD. Being myself RIGHT NOW TODAY IN THIS MOMENT.. something about that feels a little revolutionary. Idk tho.. I'm just a me.

✨ Celebrating 10 Years of SCAD FASH ✨
Ruth E. Carter: Afrofuturism in Costume Design
On view: December 17, 2020 – September 12, 2021

Curating Ruth E. Carter: Afrofuturism in Costume Design was an honor and a profound creative journey. It was also one of the most challenging projects I’ve ever undertaken, curated entirely via Zoom during the pandemic. In a time defined by the election, the Black Lives Matter movement, and the global uncertainty of COVID, this exhibition carried immense cultural and emotional significance.

Ruth E. Carter’s work transcends fashion and film. Her filmography — including Black Panther, Selma, Malcolm X, and Do the Right Thing — captures the African American narrative with brilliance, integrity, and imagination. Through her designs, she constructs living portraits of history, identity, and empowerment, shaping the language of cinema itself.

The exhibition featured more than 60 costumes from across her remarkable career, from Roots to Coming 2 America, displayed in immersive environments reflecting Ruth’s own artistry. Guests could explore rare sketches, research materials, and a behind-the-scenes view of her design process. The installation also incorporated original artwork by SCAD alumnus Brandon Sadler, whose murals appeared in Black Panther, expanding the dialogue between costume, culture, and Afrofuturism.

Working with Ruth was a true privilege. She is a visionary, a historian of culture through cloth, and a storyteller whose medium is color, texture, and meaning. Her artistry reminds us that costume design is not merely visual — it is a form of narrative, identity, and revolution.

✨ Celebrating 10 Years of SCAD FASH ✨

As we celebrate a decade of creativity, I’m filled with gratitude remembering our second exhibition, featuring the extraordinary Daniel Lismore — Be Yourself; Everyone Else is Already Taken, presented from January 22 to May 1, 2016.

I am deeply honored to have been the curator of Daniel’s very first exhibition — a breathtaking journey through identity, art, and self-expression. His work continues to inspire audiences around the world with its courage, imagination, and unapologetic beauty.

We were also fortunate to produce an exhibition catalog photographed by the talented SCAD alumnus Colin Douglas Gray, capturing Daniel’s artistry in all its power and brilliance.

Here’s to Daniel — for continuing to shine, challenge conventions, and remind us that art and authenticity are inseparable.

wu tou bts vibes. i really thrive on tour. on go, workin, focused on my craft and good music, literally in sport mode running around the venue to get the shot (in this case, sprinting thru whole ass arenas!), dancing with fans who are having the best time, getting paid to do something i love deeply. late nights filming, then celebrating, just to wake up early and edit the magic. it’s not easy but walking in purpose is a dope place to be and worth every minute of the grind.

at the end of the day i’m just a girl from a small place in tennessee who picked up a camera at 15 and never thought about doing anything else. God’s favor on me is one of a kind cause i found something i loved and it’s kept me going all this time! been put in my 10k hours and somehow i’m still just getting started! anyway somebody add me to yo tour i wanna keep going! 🕺🏽

The verdant landscape of ‘Christian Dior: Jardins Rêvés’ at SCAD FASH Lacoste @scadfash concludes on a surreal note, showcasing the romantic illustrations of René Gruau among a cabinet of curiosities featuring more than 60 remarkable accessories, including fragrance bottles, bags, and dazzling jewels. A celebration of flower-drenched artistry, the House’s debut exhibition in Provence invites a rare moment of wonder beyond world. Now on view through Sept. 28, 2025.

A dreamscape of florals and finery awaits at @scadfash in Provence. ‘Christian Dior: Jardins Rêvés’ marks 78 years of Dior’s enduring fantasy, taking root and flourishing through the visions of his creative successors. Curated by Hélène Starkman and brought to life by SCAD FASH’s Rafael Brauer Gomes and Ariel Stark, the display unfurls a love letter to the House’s eternal muse: the garden.
