Kyoto Day 9 & 10 - We arrived in Kyoto after what was quite possibly the biggest shitshow of a travel day ever. We only made it to Hakuba Station thanks to a very kind stranger who drove us there in his van, once we arrived it quickly became clear that every man and his dog was also trying to leave Hakuba. We were told about five different versions of catch this train, catch that bus, actually there's no trains at all, actually there is trains...Somehow we eventually made it onto one train, which turned into three more trains after that, and we finally rolled into Kyoto late that night. Morale was low and we all hit the hay hard.

Day 10 woke up feeling much more human and headed to Hashi Labs to make our own chopsticks. And they really mean make by 10am we were on the tools sanding and shaping away trying to craft the perfect pair

The rest of the day was a healthy mix of thrift shopping, eating, and wandering. I found the silliest alligator handbag, bought way too many knick knacks and ate the best taiyaki of the trip so far. Finished it off with a stroll along the Philosopher’s Path, started our goshuin collection, and wrapped it all up with a big bowl of ramen! (Last slide captures the beginning of train gate which was completed on no sleep at all after pulling an all nighter, losing my phone and walking home in -6 degrees obvi) 🥢🍜🌸🇯🇵 🐊

Day 4–8: Hakuba / Snow Machine recap!

Holy moly no idea where to even start recapping our time in Hakuba. It was wild, extremely silly and reminded me why I loved living in a ski town all those years ago and how much joy the snow and snowboarding bring me.

So many good times with mates and plenty of boogies that carried on (as per usual hehe). It felt so good to be back on a board again! The tired legs, the long cold mountain days and that unbeatable feeling of finally taking your boots off at the end of the day before swapping them out for your dancing shoes....Add in a coupla of your fav Aussie djs, one too many Chūhai's and safe to say Hakubali absolutely delivered ❄️🏂🕺
