What does electricity have to do with flying? ⚡✈️

At our October Young Eagles Workshop, students got hands-on with learning to use an ohmmeter to measure electrical resistance and check connections. 🔌 These are skills that aircraft mechanics and avionics technicians use every day! 🧰

Through aviation education, we're turning curiosity into real-world learning and inspiring the next generation of problem-solvers. 🧠🛩️

Our workshops are in partnership with CCPS LWTC aviation airframe mechanics and avionics technician program. 📚 Get in touch to get involved!

School lunch, for most of us, was a tray, a line and a few dollars on an account.

In Collier, the school district says its nutrition staff "prepare and serve more than 5.3 million meals each year."

The State Archives of Florida keeps two early pictures of Collier schools. One is Immokalee's school from about 1910, a white wood schoolhouse in the pines. The other is Naples' public school in 1935, which the archives notes was "built as FERA project 11-B4-7," a New Deal relief project.

In August 2020, WINK reported that Collier's public school students would be served free breakfast for the 2020-21 school year. Today the district's meals page says it plainly: "ALL students at ALL CCPS schools are eligible to receive breakfast at no cost."

Lunch is free at schools on the district's no-cost lunch list. That includes Golden Gate elementary, middle and high schools, Lely High, Immokalee Middle and High, Lake Trafford, Highlands, Pinecrest, Village Oaks and Eden Park. Families at other schools apply online.

For babies and new moms, there's WIC. The Health Department says it's for "income-eligible pregnant and postpartum women, breastfeeding moms, and children under five." To apply, call 800-342-3556.

Breakfast: free for ALL students at ALL CCPS schools
Lunch: free at schools on the district's no-cost list; families at other schools apply online
CCPS district office: 239-377-0001
WIC: to apply, call 800-342-3556
WIC Naples: 239-252-8208

Big space for even bigger possibilities! 🏫

Our Southwest Florida team recently finished up Ave Maria Elementary School, bringing bright, flexible spaces and thoughtfully built learning areas together in one welcoming campus. With abundant natural light throughout the school, collaboration spaces, and a multipurpose hub aptly named “The Nest,” this entire campus was created to support connection and collaboration.

Designed with room to grow alongside the Ave Maria community, the school is ready for curiosity and creativity. For @avemariacardinals, the future is already taking flight! #CPPIBuilds 🏗️

Our last workshop of 2026 ended with learning about how ohmmeters measure resistance. ⚡ The students checked connections and troubleshooted electrical components... the same way aircraft mechanics would! 🧰

Thank you to our @collierschools LWTC instructors and students for volunteering your time to educate the youth and share the love of the aviation ✈️
