Jr Rodriguez organized the Color Vérité film festival to spotlight work by and about athletes of color. The idea came about after he premiered his first documentary, “Wading for Change,” and felt that stories by people of color were seen as niche programming.  “The definition of nature or the outdoors just needs to expand a little more to include more people. And there’s a lot of people that have been excluded for a long time.” The festival opens at 5 p.m. with films at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 26 at the Center for the Arts. An after-hours dance party with Los Angeles-based DJ Jambalaya caps off the night.  📸: Courtesy #film #people #news #radio #891khol

This is my “why.” Making Mystic Rider with @jaystone_m will always be an accomplishment that I’m proud of. Before the filming even started, I defined my “why.” It was really important to me to have ownership and tell a story my way. It’s easier to let someone tell your story and handle all the production of a film, but so much harder to do that with a 2 person team and one of those people is you. Film making is a hard but rewarding process. There’s a lot of pieces and logistics. I learned a ton & am still learning a lot. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to explore the craft and can’t wait to do it again! Catch ‘Mystic Rider’ at @colorverite and online (check out my bio for more info). 📸 stills from ‘Mystic Rider’ @jaystone_m #mtb #mountainbiking #cyclinglifestyle #mountainbike #adaptivemountainbiking
