Walter Turner and College of Marin have done an amazing thing. Their beautiful new state of the art student center & library, is also a gallery housing a permanent collection of my father’s work. You should go wander through the building and enjoy the space and the art. I’ll probably go again & again.💕

A great man was honored last night. Every single person who spoke held decades of wisdom, experience, and power and are warriors of justice. The strength in the room was palpable. COM is honored to be home to the works of the legendary Dr. Emory Douglas. #emorydouglas #collegeofmarin #blackpantherparty

An amazing man was honored last night at College of Marin, the legendary Dr. Emory Douglas! ✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿It was an absolute honor for all in attendance. Dr. Douglas and other prominent social activists were in attendance as COM debuted its very first permanent art exhibition. The Black Panther Party’s legacy now resides on the walls of College of Marin. Dr. Douglas’s profoundly impactful political art will be celebrated and enjoyed by all who visit the College of Marin campus. #emorydouglas #blackpantherparty #collegeofmarin

Join us for our next Womxn of Color Cafe: Embroidering Our Stories / Bordando Nuestras Historias ✨

Together we’ll create art, explore our stories, and reflect on the identities that shape us. We’ll also learn about “reauthoring,” a practice that invites us to take ownership of our stories and tell them in ways that feel meaningful and true to who we are.

No art or embroidery experience needed. Come as you are. 💛

📅 Monday, October 12, 2026
⏰ 12:40–1:30 PM
📍 Center for Student Success, CSS 200

Womxn of Color Cafe is a brave space centering College of Marin students who identify as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color of marginalized genders, including women, femmes, transgender, gender non-conforming, two-spirit, and beyond. We connect, heal, and find joy with one another.

Image description:
A warm golden-yellow poster with subtle line drawings of flowers in the background. At the top, dark purple text reads “Womxn of Color Cafe: Embroidering Our Stories / Bordando Nuestras Historias.” In the center is an illustrated image of a Black woman holding a cup, with orange thread-like lines flowing around her face and body. Below the artwork, the poster invites students to create art, explore their stories, reflect on their identities, and learn about “reauthoring.” Event details read: Monday, October 12, 2026, 12:40–1:30 PM, Center for Student Success, CSS 200. The bottom describes Womxn of Color Cafe as a brave space for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color students of marginalized genders to connect, heal, and find joy together.
