What happens when the bull becomes the matador? 🐂

After my last bout I came to the realisation that I need to be more present in fights to use my brain. When I’m blinded by rage, it’s not possible to think. Whilst a blood thirsty rabbid animal worked for a while, that as a default leaves me open to a lot of risk which I learnt after I cracked my nose and couldn’t breathe against the current UK no.1 in my last fight 😂

This camp @super_fire_gym we have worked extensively on my fundamentals and honed into my footwork. Focusing on being a ballerina using my wits to set traps, engaging on my terms where the risk is lower. This shift required both physical and mental realignment. The mental preparation required to stay composed in dangerous situations was astounding.

Who better to test this new style on than @olliedoyle01 who is a relentless pressure fighter with dynamite in all of his weapons. Ultimately the shift worked and I was able to effectively outscore my opponent for the victory by decision.

Still have a lot to work on, primarily the ability to switch between the ballerina and the hunter. I defaulted to safety this fight and never applied substantial pressure in moments where I could’ve. This will be the next evolution for me, a style so unpredictable that I can float like a butterfly and, when the opportunity opens, sting like a bee. 🐝

Each fight camp and the subsequent fight teaches me extensively about how to deal with pressure, pain and adversity which carries over in my day to day life.

Last Saturday I had the absolute pleasure of sharing a ring with @fatrylan on @combatfightseries, fighting at a much comfier 85kg. I threw absolutely everything I had into this camp and can happily say I chucked whatever was left into that ring.

After a good and proper tear up @fatrylan got the well earned win and I came away with the newfound knowledge I can hang (and bang) with the big boys, which will do for me on this occasion 🤝.

A massive thank you to my friend and coach @teamkaobon_hampshire and to @tcoluccia_ @awn_.__ for being in my corner both at the fight and during the dirty, sweaty, stinky horrible weeks leading up to it. To @fatrylan and @super_fire_gym for being the absolute gentlemen that they are, a great gym and credits to the sport. And to @shimu_s_showcase for the absolutely quality photographs 🙏

Lastly to everyone who watched, it really means the world to have all of your support.
