Buried in clothing
The fashion industry overproduces. #Prato has a tradition of doing something about it that has recently become trendy. The man you can’t see in this photo is sorting ‘stracci’, used wool clothing stripped of its trim. Put into piles that distinguish between various shades of red, the wool is chopped, washed and re-spun to make new garments. It’s part of the #circulareconomy, topic of the 4-day @recofestival that ended today.
#openfactories was a rare privileged visit to three companies in #montemurlo to learn about these processes. If you ever get the chance to experience an event like this in Prato, my advice to you is: do it! .
