We had great questions from the audience. It so good to finally meet Mr Cai after working with him on Sinophagia. Our title reveals to China +100 begin today, join us in celebrating Sinophone creativity during ESEA Heritage Month, as we count down to publication day @commapress, which happens around the wonderful time of Mid-Autumn Festival!

First in the title reveal is Archaic Dust 万古尘 by Xingyun Award-winning, globally published author and screenwriter Anna Wu, 吴霜. My short story The Long Middle has been published today by The Markaz Review! edited by the award-winning novelist @salhad

The story follows a complication among a bloc of anti-state revolutionaries - following the complete collapse of their nation - on their armed march towards the horizon.

The story is accompanied with a soundtrack composed by my long time collaborator and friend @noursokhon - we wanted to create soundtracks for the page, to open up immersive reading, particularly for neurodivergent readers.

I started working on this story in 2023 and the full extended version will be in my short story collection to be published by @commapress late 2027 inshaAllah.

🫧 MINI REVIEW 🫧The Sea Cloak & Other Stories by Nayrouz Qarmout translated by Perween Richards

I really appreciated this collection of eleven short stories. I read them quite awhile ago now (I always put off writing reviews🫠) and although my memory of some are hazy, they evoked many different feelings, especially the title story which actually put me off swimming for awhile! The writing was often poetic and full of vivid descriptions, really immersing me in the stories being told. Although the book was written in 2019 it is a reminder of all that went before and all that still continues today, both the beauty of life and the brutality of occupation. I feel very grateful to the author and translator for their wonderful work as well as to indie publisher @commapress for publishing it. I hope more of you will consider picking this up and also have a look at the other brilliant books Comma Press publish too!
