10,000 miles of the best car in the world. The milestone happened just short of one of my favorite driving roads in the Hudson Valley. Here are some photos from the journey thus far. Enjoy.

This way up to Hudson from the northwest corner of the state is one that always seems to be unimpeded and empty anytime you choose the church on wheels for your journey.

An car.

I didn’t love the digital dash at first, but it has grown on me over time. Wood wheel is fantastic, the best of any generation of Range Rover. L405 is a bit too thin for my liking, P38 will probably give you splinters and is not heated.

Miles! 136,000 of them! Apparently that’s a lot! I just change the oil on time and it still starts in the morning!

BRICKS

*Clarkson’s Farm theme plays* the L322 handled annual tree season duties at @jonesfamilyfarms with ease.

I will admit that it did not come without its faults. Got a crash course in Land Rover systems engineering as it came into my life with a litany of traction related error codes. An @arnottsuspension coil conversion and a gap tool wouldn’t touch it. Pro tip-if you have one of these and are banging your head against the wall because it won’t air up, try replacing your yaw sensor. It might work, it might not. That’s what ended up fixing this one.

Had a great time shooting with @yuchaodrives on the most British day I’ve ever experienced.

Because racecar.

Outside of the yaw module, it’s been standard stuff. Replaced the water pump and some coolant hoses preventatively before I started putting it through its paces. Really nice to see people beginning to recognize these as enthusiast vehicles-so parts availability isn’t an issue at all. Especially glad to see my friends at @fcpeuro now offering kits for all of the major L322 services across all three generations. Everything from timing service kits to brake and control arm packages. Most recently, and the only real expenditure to date-I had the team at @indianneckmotors go through the whole front end along with some other small maintenance items. The goal, as always is to keep running costs below the standardized tax deductible mileage/depreciat

Porcelain White Autobiography 🤍

Story saw it first but I thought it was time to make an intro post for my new daily driver! This is my L494 Range Rover Sport Autobiography! But since the name is such a mouthful, I’ve affectionately nicknamed it ‘Sporty Spice.’
.
And spicy it is, because powering my L494 is the mighty AJ 5.0 Supercharged V8. The AJ 5.0 has found its way into a myriad of JLR cars ranging from 2-door sports cars to fullsize SUV’s over the last 15 years, and this 510hp variant of the lump is an absolute GEM of a powerplant! Tons of power and great throttle response everywhere in the rev range, and with a great exhaust note too!
.
In terms of options, this is without a doubt the single best optioned car I’ve owned, I truly feel spoiled by it. Heated/Cooled front & rear seats, heated steering wheel, dual pane glass, 825-Watt sound system, lane departure, radar cruise, pano roof, and even a freaking fridge. You name it, this Rover’s got it.
.
While the L494 lacks some of the visual panache and presence of an L322 or L405 Full Size Range, it makes up for it in spades. Not only does the L494 handle fantastically on the road, it’s locking center and rear diffs and TerrainSelect systems mean it’s got the offroad chops of its big siblings too.
.
I’m looking forward to many adventures with this one! 🥂
