Get @reshare_app • @comoxvalleychamber As a non-partisan business organization, the Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce hosts All-Candidates Forums to provide the business community with an opportunity to hear directly from candidates about their priorities, so they can make informed decisions at the ballot box. 🏡Local government decisions have a direct impact on the conditions in which businesses operate, invest, hire and grow. From housing and development approvals to infrastructure, transportation, taxation, public safety and the overall economic health of our communities, the decisions made by local elected officials matter to businesses across the Comox Valley. 🤝A Business-Focused Conversation: This forum will have a particular focus on issues affecting business, economic development and the future prosperity of our community. Questions will explore topics such as the local business climate, housing and workforce challenges, taxation and affordability, permitting and development, infrastructure and transportation, public safety, economic development and other priorities identified by the Chamber and local business community. ❓Attendees will have the opportunity to submit questions during the event: questions will be moderated to ensure they are relevant to the purpose of the event, respectful and appropriate. The moderator may combine similar questions, determine which questions are asked, redirect discussion, and ensure candidates have a fair opportunity to respond. Please note that the Chamber does not endorse or oppose candidates or political parties. Our role is to create a fair, respectful and non-partisan forum where all candidates are given an equal opportunity to participate and where the issues important to our local business community can be explored. It was a tremendously special afternoon today the GRAND OPENING of the brand new ‘Vanier Turf 2’ !! 🎉 Important dialogue and conversation on how the hard work and planning of so many, will now provide a special space where community groups will be able to access a top shelf recreation facility right here in the beautiful Comox Valley. And our very own UNITED community was well represented by a very special group today~ some Board Members, dedicated club parents, our CVUSC Head Referee, and our own Pacific Development League player, Wilder! Our ‘Comox Valley United Soccer Club’ President, Jason M., spoke on behalf of our club… while Widler proudly represented our UNITED players during Jason’s speech. Jason noted that “On behalf of the over 1500 men, women, boys and girls in the community who play soccer as a part of the CVUSC, [that we] share respect and honour for the afternoon hosts Trish, Melanie, Sarah, and Taylor and all of the awesome staff at the Comox Valley Regional District - Local Government and Comox Valley Schools district who would have worked many tireless hours to make this day possible for the community, along with a special thank you to Elder Donna Mitchell. “ Jason very pointedly noted that this turf is a significant community initiative, and he thanked all for making the opening of this shared-use turf field possible! Jason also very proudly shared with those who gathered that “our Comox Valley United Soccer Club has around 1300 children and teenagers playing on over 100 teams led by over 200 volunteer parent coaches (and managers). With a number of our competitive teams being the number 1 team(s) on the island and making it to provincial playdowns on the mainland, so representing the island as the best of the island teams.” And went on to add that “Having a new high quality new turf will help relieve some of the pressure for field space for practice and games for these teams and also provide opportunities to host tournaments or jamborees, as we call them, for the younger age groups.” And add that “ Our club promises to be a good partner and steward of this shared-use turf.“
