Happy Registered Dietitian Day to all the amazing RDNs! 💛🎈🌻💐✨

First, I wanted to outline the requirements of what it takes to become a RDN as it’s very different from anyone who is a “nutritionist” or “certified nutritionist”. Requirements of a RDN below:

1. Earn a Bachelor’s Degree in dietetics, nutrition, or a related field from an accredited program.

2. Complete a Supervised Practice Program (also known as a dietetic internship) that is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).

3. Pass the National Examination for Dietitians, which is administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).

4. Obtain State Licensure or Certification, if required, depending on where you live. Each state has its own set of regulations.

5. Continue Education to maintain your RDN credentials. This includes staying updated on the latest research and trends in nutrition, as well as completing continuing education units (CEUs).

A shout-out to all of those who continue to lead and break down research into simple ways that audiences and communities can easily understand. To those in outpatient, clinical settings, and food service settings. To those working in program management and creating sustainable health systems. To all those in the media world getting out of your comfort zones on TV, live audiences, speaking engagements, and getting creative in various ways to make nutrition fun and relevant. To those entrepreneurs who work tirelessly to make an impact in their communities and beyond.

RDNs rock and are much needed, especially in a world with so many people living with diabetes, obesity, and other chronic health conditions, and the constant bombardment of false claims or misinformation.

You’re doing it ✨💛 You’re needed. Vamos mi gente!

Make sure to give all these powerhouse dietitians and groups tagged a follow! Shout out your Registered Dietitian friends below to celebrate them 🌻🥳🎈✨
