What we didn't know our photo booths were missing... giant cat heads 👏

The best night for Colette & Dave. Their photo booth at Long Clawson Village Hall brought everyone together for plenty of brilliant photos and left them with a guestbook full of photo strips and handwritten messages from the people they love.

The fun happens on the night, but the guestbook is the part you get to keep forever 🤍

The books that made me fall in love with reading again📚🩷

Growing up, reading and writing never came easily to me because of my dyslexia, but as I practised diligently, I slowly fell in love with both, and if you asked my friends to list three things that describe me, one of them would always be: always reading / never without a book.

But in 2018, I read a book that put me into the longest reading slump I’ve ever experienced. For years, I didn’t pick up a book unless it was something I had to read for college. Aside from that, I just wasn’t reading anymore.

And honestly, I struggled with that a lot, because reading has always been one of my favourite things in the world. But no matter how much I missed it, I couldn’t seem to get out of that slump.

Until autumn 2023, with the help of my lovely friends (see tags), our book club group chat, and the wonderful books you see on these pictures🥹🩷

Talking about stories with them helped reignite that spark, and when I discovered that my favourite movie, Howl’s Moving Castle, was based on a book, and that it was actually part of a trilogy, I knew I had to read it.

I also got myself all the Moomin books. I adored the 90s cartoon growing up ( it was my first fandom and it shaped the geek I am today🤭🩷) but I never had the chance to read the books as a kid because they weren’t readily available in Belgium back then.

Reading these books turned that little spark into a reading inferno, and ever since, I’ve read over 100 books spread out over the last 3 years.

And that’s not all! Getting back into reading also pushed me to finally follow my lifelong dream of writing my own book, which I’ve been doing since January 2024🥰

Starting next year, I want to start sharing a bit more about the books I read and share some of my favourites on here, of course mixed in with flowers and other little bits and pieces from the garden😍🌸

What is a book that made you fall in love with reading (again)? I’d love to hear🥰📚🙌

@mymonthontheplot #mymonthontheplot Prompt Never Again: I thought I'd never again find my reading spark, but all it took was some help of my wonderful friends and the right books🥰🩷

Welcome to Fibres and Florals!

This is a new venture for me and I’d love if you could join me; expect lots of pressed flower beauties, stunning dried flowers and a bit of embroidery & cross stitch too.
All the flowers are either grown by me or sustainably sourced. I love everything floral and creative so I can’t wait to share this with you!

Love Colette xx

When @complexlycolette casually says ‘I think I might try pink next time’ I obviously fully support this idea.
Her previous 15 year old self would be very happy with this combo of pink hair ready for a Green Day stadium show 😜

Finding my love of reading again🩷 I used to read a lot & then I just stopped, no idea why. Last year I set out to slowly but surely pick it up again📚

Every month, I will share with you all the books I read & how I liked them. To start it off, the books I read last year🥰

Rating system:
1: Didn’t like it
2: Not really for me
3: Liked it
4: Loved it
5: Absolutely loved it

Stories I like: Fun, magical & whimsical stories with lots of heart. Fantasy, mystery & childrens novels

📚Books 2023:

The Moomins-Tove Jansson (5)
I read 4 out of 9 books
-Moominsummer Madness
-Comet in Moominland
-Finn Family Moomintroll
-Moominland Midwinter

I know I might be biassed😂 I love a fun, magical & quirky story with lovable characters & the Moomins have plenty! 🥰

Howl’s Moving Castle Trilogy-Dianne Wynne Jones
The 1st book is where 1 of my all time favourite Studio Ghibli movies is based on. I love the fact that you can watch the movie & read the book, without spoiling to much from each story, but there are still enough similarities to make fans love both
-Howl’s Moving Castle: 4,5 (movie is a 5)
-Castle In The Air: 3,5
-House of Many Ways: 4

Kiki's Delivery Service-Eiko Kadono (5)
Loved it! Such a fun & heartwarming tale. If you love the Ghibli movie, you will love the book. Sadly only the 1st one is translated from Japanese to English, but here is hoping the other’s are translated as well

Before the Coffee Gets Cold-Toshikazu Kawaguchi (4)
A bit different from what I usually read, but I loved it. It’s a lovely & unique story about going back in time that pulls on your heartstrings. Sometimes the writer focuses on strange details, but overall it’s a heartfelt book. This book is the 1st out of 4 & I can’t wait to read the others

This year, the reading bug really got a hold of me. For this, I would love to thank all the wonderful people in #bookclub for helping me find my reading spark again (see tags)🩷

What are some of your favourite books? Would love to hear🥰
