Nine years ago, I had the good fortune of having my artwork included in @mrchuckd ‘s ‘This Day in Rap and Hip-Hop History’ - Ever since, it’s been gratifying to find the book in the wild - Harvard University Bookstore, National Hip-Hop Museum, Oakland Museum of California, to name a few. Four of my pieces were included - a Q-Tip portrait, Big Daddy Kane, EPMD, and LL Cool J watercolors, and my name in the credits. This remains a big accomplishment for me, and I love that I get these visual reminders that pop up on social media (see, it’s not all bad). #thisdayinrapandhiphophistory #chuckd #ajkatzart www.katzartstudio.com

Yes! I just received my Rap Central Station MagPaper - Issue #4. These magazines are dense with incredible content, and celebrate Classic Hip-Hop, stories, style, sight, and sound. Proud of the writers and artists that are sharing their gifts with the music community. My ‘Questlove’ drawing, looks sharp, next to the Kyle Eustice/Questlove interview. I’m excited for more of these affirming opportunities- Thanks, Mr.Chuck! www.katzartstudio.com @mrchuckd @rapcentralstationmag

Three years ago… We re-created the cover of ‘Check Your Head’. This trip out to LA (2023) was the catalyst for the 2027 version of MCA DAY - planning in-progress for August! Thanks, Rayen - for getting us all out there! https://youtu.be/HiocAASjV6c?si=-dSdJXZ8eLC-n_5v - Watch the Mini-Doc (running time 4 minutes) @mcadaynyc @nerdlocations @beastieboys Original Cover 📸 - @glenefriedman

9 years ago…Prophets of Rage (RATM, Cypress Hill, Public Enemy) played the 9:30 Club, and I went in prepared! It was an incredible experience all around, but meeting the band, and delivering some artwork, made it a night to remember! Read the blog post at KatzArt.blog - https://katzart.blog/2017/10/04/mission-prophets-of-rage/ Thanks, DJ Lord, Chuck D, B-Real, Tom Morello, Timmy C, and Brad Wilk. Issue 4: My new ‘Questlove’ drawing runs alongside the article in the new Rap Central Station MagPaper. I’ve had this one under wraps for about 6 months, while they figured out the best spot for it. Proud to have been considered for the cover, so now I have a new goal. Get these magazines! - ‘print is not dead’. These mags are heavy with Hip-Hop ART, incisive articles, and intros to new and classic Hip-Hop. ‘Questlove’ Graphite and Charcoal on Raw Cardboard 24” x 24” by @ajkatzart Inspired by a photograph by Sage East @sage.east www.katzartstudio.com #questlove #ahmir #rapcentralstation
