Truly love @acreresidency thankful to have experienced this twice now, each special in their own way. A space to breathe and rest. And rest I did on those couches, hammock, and the infamous cold creek. Was trying my best to capture moments that felt ephemeral, everything’s ephemeral so as long as my phone wasn’t dead, which was frequent, there I was filming these little vignette.

Re.Stance Collective honours the designers and artists who are actually doing the work, those who are building with intention, reworking materials, questioning systems, and choosing circularity in practice
They represent what fashion can become when creativity meets responsibility. #nyfw #upcycling #fashion #circularity photo by @isandres66 @gardenofkaylin

New episode of Scriptures this Saturday, Nov 15 @ 10PM CST w/ Compton Quashie (@compton.q)

Compton Quashie (they/them) is a Black, queer artist, designer, educator, and cultural worker whose interdisciplinary practice engages the intersections of fashion, performance, and diasporic studies. Grounded in both material research and community-based methodologies, their work examines how Black diasporic communities utilize textiles, fashion, movement, and sound as technologies of cultural preservation.

Born and raised in Chicago’s Hyde Park, their practice is shaped by Black cultural spaces as sites of knowledge production, autonomy, and collective care. Their research investigates how aesthetics, craft traditions, and embodied practices circulate across the African diaspora, operating as mechanisms for cultural continuity and socio-political resistance.
