New week, new stop on the Seattle tour! Today we take a stroll through the Volunteer Park Conservatory!

First proposed in 1893 and finally built in 1912, this Victorian-style conservatory is a beautiful centerpiece to Volunteer Park and a great place to visit all year round to see various types of flora. The entry fee is $6 most days, but free the first Thursday of every month! If you go make sure to have layers you can take off, as it understandably gets pretty hot and humid in here. Definitely not a fun place to fursuit! 😅

The statue featured in the last slide is of William H. Seward, the US Secretary of State that negotiated the Alaska Purchase which led to the Yukon Gold Rush. Without that key action, Seattle would likely not exist because it grew so much as a town that hopeful miners would use as a starting point for their expedition to Alaska during the Gold Rush.
