A summer full of friends, family, rivers, stone fruits and sunshine. Tried a light jog for the first time in three years, celebrated my brother & lovely sister-in-law/ soon becoming an aunt to twins, and my mom’s beautiful outdoor gear repair business.

I’m pretty pumped to have got to help out with the launch assets for @leicahuntingusa new Geovid Max

They pretty do everything I want out of a range finding bino and anything they don’t can be upgraded with a simple firmware update (let’s get that archery mode going boys!)

Nowadays I get some stuff for free on occasion but I’m still just a gear nerd that spends too much time on @rokslide and Snipershide nitpicking the details of products to decide which one earns my money

The world is a crazy place and my hobbies provide an escape from the crazy. Hunting seasons are in short supply, money is tight and I truly hate when products don’t meet my expectations, especially if it effects the outcome of a hunt

If you’ve got any questions for me on gear, hunting, rifles, bow’s, whatever, hit me up and I’ll probably give you a long winded answer. I’ve hated when I’ve wasted money on gear in the past and I’ve made it my mission to help people save their own money, time and frustrations

I can’t get enough making pretty pics with my camera (attempting anyways)

I just got finished filming/photo’ing a sheep hunt in Oregon and had a 12 hour run back home

As I passed through Island Park and along side Henry’s Lake, the lighting turned epic

I’ve got a thing for shooting from the drivers seat, my eye loves what it sees so I try and catch a few vibes in a photo

It’s mostly spray and pray but I’ve learned to set up the camera ahead of time to make it do what I want. I’m not just trying to catch what I see but to recreate how what I see makes me feel

I know we all like the rifle, bow, hunting content but solo road trips, listening to podcast, %not%watching movies, long phone calls with friends, and a little silence sprinkled in is good for my soul

Hope September is treating you all well, it’s done me right so far…

As I put together this post and scrolled through my camera roll, trying to decide which photos and videos to use, it was hard to choose. You know why? Because every moment I captured was beautiful.
The energy created, the connections made, and all the people who came from near and far to play a part in bringing last week together—
you all did one heck of a job. 🥹💙

Being part of Academy always feels a little like summer camp for adults who love to play in the forest, climb rocks, discover music and films in the park, and dance our hearts out until we wake up and do it all over again the next day.

It was magnetic. I’m feeling so proud to have been part of the magic, and to have brought a little Mo flare along for the ride too — face glitter, high-fives, hugs, and plenty of cheerleader energy.

Thank you @arcteryxacademy the summer send off party and all the memories made. I hope you enjoy it from my eyes 💕✨

Sometimes I marvel at the friendships I’ve been blessed with—especially the ones that have shaped my path, both personally and professionally.

Recently, Heather and I were lucky enough to gather in Bozeman to celebrate the marriage of my longtime friend and workmate, Connor Koch (@conkoch), and his amazing bride, Becca (@beccaboylan), who may be the only person on earth capable of matching Connor’s energy, drive, and commitment to making every day count. (How many people do you know who would choose to run across the great state of Montana to raise money for cancer research?!)

As I listened to all those joyful boot, cowboy hat, and bolo tied-folks making merry, I realized there were so many I’ve loved and admired; my trusty partner and manager, Skyler (@skyler_j_williams) and his two-step partner for life, Kristin; old friend and co-author of The Adversity Advantage, Dr. Paul Stoltz (who served as officiant) and his poetic powerhouse of a partner, Rhonda (dear mentors of Connor’s, both), legendary alpinist Mark Twight (last together at the Wyoming Ice Festival), and so many others.

I speak publicly for a living, but being asked to deliver the wedding toast was one of the greatest honors of my life. Brought together by their shared love of running and the outdoors, these two are a match made in heaven. I ended my toast with something along the lines of:

“May you always choose the scenic route, may love and laughter be your compass, and may your adventures be never-ending.”

Cheers to the bride and groom, and wishing many happy miles ahead! ❤️

Everything is perfect

Summer and med school and love and cowboys and Montana and running and 100 mile races and third place and clouds and family and sunsets - it's all perfect and wonderful and good.
-
I ran my first hundred this summer and got 3rd place 🥉 with 9 wks to train while on rotations for med school (may or may not post about it). I married my best friend and saw so much love in everything and everyone around me (more on this later). The clouds and sunsets and smoke have been witness to it all. I found old photos and cried about losing my mom to cancer. Life has been SO FULL..... So here's proof of life and proof of concept 🤍🌸🤍

It really is the little things
the small moments
that make our hearts smile
when the sun hits just right
a simple “thinking of you” text
the wag of a dog’s tail
smiling eyes
taking your shoes off after a run
backyard hangs
the first sip of coffee
the smell of a neighbours bbq
singing in the car with the windows down
tangled hands
floating in the ocean and hearing the rocks flutter beneath you
when days are filled with these little treasures
that’s a life worth living

The last time Adam Campbell (@adamo1979) ran a 100-miler, he finished thinking “never again”.

In the early 2010s, Adam was a regular on start lines and podiums at competitive ultramarathons around the world. Then in 2016, he had an accident that broke his back and hip. He recovered, and the next year made his comeback at the Hardrock 100 — but it cost him.  
“I got a lot of praise [for finishing], but I really set myself back physically and emotionally” he says.

So for a while after that, racing stayed in the rearview.   Then, a couple years ago, running stopped hurting.  
Adam rediscovered his rhythm, and those moments when everything falls away and the movement feels effortless.  
He started to wonder: Can I do this again?

He registered for the Crazy Mountain 100 — an aptly-named race on the indigenous lands of the Apsáalooke (Crow) Nation. It crosses a mountain range in Montana and has 7,000 metres of gain.

“I hired a coach,” Adam says. “We focused on strength and time instead of mileage. I learned to work with the athlete I am now — not the one I used to be.”

Despite the occasional setback — including a hard fall that he worried broke a rib five weeks before — Adam was ready on race day.   But high temps compounded the challenge. He struggled with stomach issues and considered dropping out at mile 40.

Then he remembered something he and his wife, Cassie, had talked about:  
“I tried to change my mindset to one of gratitude,” he says.   With Cassie and his friend Connor pacing him through the night, Adam moved forward, crossing the line in second place — 25 hours, 38 minutes after he started.

So, will he do it again?  
“Right now, I’m excited to recover from the emotional and physical journey,” he says. “From there, I’ll see what drives me.”   Congrats, Adam — we can’t wait to see what that is.

Adam Campbell (@adamo1979) made an incredible return to racing, crossing the finish line in second at the Crazy Mountain 100 with a time of 25:38:02.

The @crazymountainultra course spans 100 miles and 23,000 feet of climbing from Wilsall to Lennep, Montana, across the Indigenous lands of the Apsáalooke people.

Thank you to Adam’s wife, Cassie (@cassieshirley), and Connor Koch (@conkoch), for supporting him and keeping him company on course.

A huge effort and an incredible result. More to come from Adam’s return to racing. Part 1 of 2.
