Here's a little history Bagel King of Bridgeport has been a beloved destination for breakfast and lunch since its founding in 1969 by Rinaldo Del Cegno, an Italian immigrant, and his former partner. Originally established as an Italian bakery in Norwalk, Bagel King shifted its focus to bagels due to increasing customer demand. In 1976, Rinaldo opened a new shop at the corner of Jewitt Ave. and Main St. in Bridgeport, followed by another location that same year in the Trumbull Mall. The Jewitt Ave. shop relocated in 1984 to its current location at 3550 Main St. in Bridgeport, where it continues to thrive. After Rinaldo's retirement in 2004, his children, Tanya and Steve, took over the business, marking the second generation of family leadership. Despite stepping back, Rinaldo remains actively involved in the daily operations. In 2011, Bagel King of Bridgeport expanded again, opening a location at 276 Fairfield Ave. in Downtown Bridgeport's Bijou Square. This location features a soup bar, an outdoor patio, and is conveniently situated near the courthouses. The Main St. location continues to be popular, especially among Sacred Heart University students, offering a Drive-Thru and outdoor seating.
