Yesterday we hosted the open mic stage at Punk Rock Flea Fest on Dundas Place, and it turned out better than we could have hoped Our sign-up sheet was already completely full by Friday night, which honestly surprised us. Even then, more people showed up hoping for a chance to play, and we managed to squeeze in as many as we could. The stage stayed busy, people stuck around to support each other, and the whole thing had such a relaxed and encouraging vibe. A big part of Planet Of Sound is helping people feel comfortable playing music, wherever they’re at. Seeing so many musicians step up, share what they’ve been working on and cheer each other on felt like that idea coming to life. Being a community partner with Punk Rock Flea Market means a lot to us. They’ve spent the last ten years building something genuinely special in London. It's something that gives artists, musicians, makers and people who might not always feel represented elsewhere a place to show up and be themselves. We’re incredibly grateful to be included in the community they’ve created. Thank you to everyone who signed up, performed, stopped to watch, came by to talk with us or helped keep the stage moving throughout the day. And a huge thank you to @punkrockfleamarketlondon for trusting us with the stage. Our vendor booth Friday and open mic stage yesterday could not have happened without the much appreciated support of Melissa, GiGi, Chris, Rob, and the amazing PRFM volunteers ❤️❤️❤️🙌🙌🙌🤝🤝🤝 We had an amazing time, and we’re still taking it all in.

Today marks one year of Planet Of Sound Rock School! When I started Planet Of Sound, I wanted to create the kind of music-learning environment I wish I’d had growing up; a place where people could play the music they love, learn without being judged, and feel like they were part of a community. I’m really proud of how much has happened over the past year. I’ve had the opportunity to work with some amazing students and bands. I’ve watched students learn their first chords, take on songs they never thought they could play, write their own music, join bands, perform live, and record their first demos. Being trusted to help people work towards those goals has meant a lot to me. Planet Of Sound has also become involved in London’s music community in ways I didn’t expect during the first year. We hosted open-mic stages @punkrockfleamarketlondon, helped out @londongrc, put on a sold-out student-band showcase @supplydemandbrewery, worked with @ldnmusicoffice for the City of Music Concert Series, co-presented Planet of Stomp with @stompboxlondon, we were a proud sponsor of Stompfest, and helped give young and emerging bands more opportunities to play. Thank you to every student who has trusted me to teach and mentor them, and to the parents and families supporting what they’re doing. Thank you to the bands that have worked, recorded, and performed with me. Thank you as well to everyone who came to a show, stopped by our booth, attended an open mic, shared a post, recommended the school, bought a shirt, took photos, made artwork, offered advice, or helped with an event. Every bit of that support has helped Planet Of Sound become what it is today. There is still a lot I want to do. I want to keep welcoming new students, helping bands get started, recording demos, organizing all-ages shows, and working with people who care about the local music community. Most of all, I want Planet Of Sound to continue being a place where people feel encouraged to make music, meet others, and figure out what they want their own musical path to look like. Thank you for supporting Planet Of Sound during its first year. I’m really looking forward to seeing what happens next. ❤️🎉

Had an amazing couple days of recording with our pals @hinderedvision and one special track with our dude, Rhys, from the band Monsterous. They worked really, really hard and we can't wait for them to release their first EP soon! Very cool up and coming young artists in the city and we're grateful to be working with them. Get ready to have your faces melted off with their raw thrash metal anthems 🔥🔥🔥💥 .
