🚨 Seniorita Sashah 🚨

Somehow (read: finally) I’m a Senior Instructor at Barry’s! Even more exciting, I got to celebrate alongside Chief Instructor @amanda.asaro, which feels exactly right given she’s been setting the standard for a long time 👩🏻‍❤️‍👩🏽

When I moved to NYC in 2018 (2nd photo), I had no idea what would await me — let alone a career, a community, and a fit family that would completely change the trajectory of my life. Few people know this but Amanda actually convinced me to sign up for my first half marathon. I didn’t have a watch, I didn’t know what meters versus miles were but she seemed to think I could do it, and sometimes all you need is for someone to truly believe in you and hold you accountable.

I always joke that Barry’s is cheaper than group therapy. Under the red lights, you’re met with the best and worst versions of yourself. You negotiate with your ability to sustain discomfort, hit walls you didn’t know existed, and, if you keep showing up, you usually leave having broken through something physically, mentally, emotionally or even spiritually! We come here to collectively do something hard, and it’s easy to get addicted to working hard if you allow yourself to.

That’s the magic of @barrys — grateful will never be enough to describe how incredibly appreciative I am to everyone who’s ever taken my class (especially the weekly troops!), yelled “woo,” added .2 to their speed, made me feel like an iconic DJ, laughed at my terrible jokes, and trusted me enough to know that - even when you’re not sure - I will always believe you can do it.

Here’s to the next chapter. Let’s f*ck it up, buttercups!
