2026 was a year of firsts, a year where Ida returned to the top, and a year of personal and team achievements. It is the first time since 2019 that an individual has gone to the state finals, and only the fourth all time, not the first Connor, but @connorz6630 was Ida's first state qualifier since 2019. The golf state tournament is potentially the hardest state championship to make, and out of the 5000 golfers who played this year in Michigan, Connor was one of 72 individuals who qualified.
Connor was also the first ever Ida golfer ranked inside the top 20 golfers of division 3, out of over 1200 golfers in division 3, Connor was ranked 19th. Connor has one year left of high school golf where he will shoot for the top again.
Ida also had 4 golfers make all-league teams. 3 Ida golfers made 2nd team all league. @loganmitchey1148 who finished 10th in the league with an impressive league championship 1st place finish. @devinr311 finished 8th place in the league, winning the Hudson Jamboree with an eagle on his last hole to shoot even and the Clinton Jamboree. @alexfaryniarz0 finishes on an all league team for the second year in a row, he played steady all year, with his best finish coming in the Madison Jamboree where he finished 2nd place shooting a +2 38, he finished 7th in the league. @connorz6630 was the lone 1st team golfer this season, he finished steady throughout the season, winning the Madison Jamboree shooting a 1 over par 37. Connor finished 6th in the league.
Ida as a team also finished incredibly strong this year, the LCAA was a competitive league, with the Clinton Red wolves being an incredibly strong team, ranked in the state the majority of the season. Ida and Clinton went shot for shot all season.
Outside of league, Ida had a plethora of achievements, including Connor Zimmerman shooting a 1 under par 71 in the county championship, idas lowest score in several decades. He finished 2nd, Ida finished 3rd in the county. Connor also medaled in the red wolf invite, and the Murdock memorial. Alex Faryniarz medaled twice this year, in the Murdock and Ryder Cup. Devin Rhodes medaled once in the Ryder Cup with Alex. Congratulations Ida Golfers!

And Idas season ends today with the completion of the state finals. @connorz6630 was the lone representative and he put up a fair showing over the 2 days of states. He shot 17 over on day one but rebounded for a solid 10 over on day 2. He shot 10 over on his front nine today, a rocky start but recovered and shot even par through his back nine, ending his junior season strong.
Connor finished his first bid to the state title 13th out of 18 individuals, and 60th overall.
A great year for Connor and the bluestreaks as they hope to repeat the success of this year.

Not the hottest day for @connorz6630 at the first day of states, but he has another great day ahead of him. Connor finished 13th out of 18 individuals today and 72nd overall. He had a slow start but had a really nice back nine. Connor has one more day left of states! Good luck Connor!

One thing I never thought I'd do, was quit baseball, baseball was my whole life and so much more. But I got to Ida, walked into the golf room, picked up a club for the first time and fell in love. Since then I medaled in several matches, finished both first and second team all league. While I didn't achieve everything I wished to in high school, I'll never regret anything I had done with the golf team. I made countless friends over my 3 years with the team, on our own team, and in others, meeting new people every week, building connections that hopefully will last a long while. Golf changed my life in so many ways, teaching me resilience, hard work, and mental fortitude, whether it be Coach Potter scaring me into golfing better or any one of my teammates competing for my position, motivating me to improve. I appreciate every single person on the Ida team, and everyone on teams previous, each person has impacted me positively in many ways, I hope I was able to impact each of you the same. Thank you so much Ida golf for the memories I created and the friendships formed. I'll continue to show what I was taught here as I continue my career in college.
