Wishing I was at the beach in Newport!! This is from 2008-the end of my crazy fun summer there right before I packed up and made my way down the East coast. Also the day I met up with my favorite retailer @flatofthehill and got the biggest jewelry order of my life 🌟 I detailed my whole summer with alarming clarity on my blog Summer in Newport, which goes for long stretches these days with no posts. 🌕🌑Paradox of the Priestess archetype 🌑🌕

If we dig in deep enough, any archetypes hold their own paradoxes. And I think this is especially true for the forgotten archetype such as the PRIESTESS.

The recent pop-culture resurgence of Priestesses have many of us thinking up an image - you know you got one😆. I had one too, until not too long ago - and the image was not what I identified with at all. That was until I sat in a class by an amazing @bloodmoonhealing about the PRIESTESS wound. Here’s someone I very much respect talking about PRIESTESS? Someone deep in the study of indigenous science talking about PRIESTESS? Not Witch Wound, but PRIESTESS Wound? My brain had to know!!

The rest is history as you can see.

Temple/Shrine/Church/Sacred Space is both a communal and solitary space depends on how we approach it - and same is true for Priestesses. They are sovereign onto themselves, yet their lives are dedicated to the service. Just like Capricorn who initiates the winter, balancing the energy of hibernation needed for the resurgence of Spring, and the much needed disciplined work to ensure our survival till our earth warms - they too have to be clear on what it means to do the work from the resources place for the benefit of all. They were spiritual, while their work also was in community organizing and governance. They were bad asses❤️‍🔥

But my ultimate favorite, which I encountered through Demetra George’s Mysteries of the Dark Moon, is many PRIESTESSES being Vestal Virgins. Contrary to what the dictionary tells us, mythologies teaches us that this has nothing to do with sexual inter course, but everything to do with the sovereignty. They belong to no men (also some PRIESTESSES did not identify as women either) . Their duties included offering sexual healing to those who came to the sacred space, and after they bathe in spring water for purification, to become whole onto themselves.

To contain this many paradoxes in this day and age is challenging. We think we are ‘progressive’ now?? I would say not in all the area, we are NOT!

This ancient memory too is etched in our DNA; it has been buried deep, waiting for us to call.

Thank you thank you thank you. I feel like there are not enough thank you I can give our community. To all of you who showed up running/walking, supporting on the side lines and who donated. Thank you. We joined this race for Jack to cross the finish line and he did. My heart is so full right now and it is because of the people in Southie supporting him. So Thank you again and be on the look out he will be up Broadway escaping this summer or at Motivated Fitness working hard on his recovery.
