WEAR THE CHANGE workshop With @westminstercitylions & @lairdandgoodcompany Back in April, I was invited to curate and facilitate a one-day workshop for Year 10 students - created to inspire and empower teenagers from the Westminster borough who may not have access to opportunities in the creative industries. 3 months of planning and bringing a phenomenal team together we got to run the workshop in July. With responsibility at the heart of everything I do, I wanted to build something that not only gave these young people a taste of what it’s like to work in the creative industry but also show them what it means to create with purpose. If we teach the next generation that there are greener, more mindful ways to work - and that creativity has the power to drive real change - then we can start shaping the future of this industry in a more conscious and inclusive way. Through the Wear The Change workshop, students stepped into one of eight creative roles across advertising and production. Working in their own mini agencies, they created seasonless campaigns for a fictional fashion rental brand, developing everything from concepts and styling to set design, photography and creative direction. The ideas, the collaboration, the vision it all proved what’s possible when you give young people the space, knowledge and tools to thrive. I feel incredibly honoured to have produced this sun-soaked, tender editorial for Rakes Progress magazine @rakesprogress. Seeing the final images for the first time took my breath away. Every frame feels like a memory of a summer you never want to end. "A story that leans into softness, where desire, intimacy and longing surface through the smallest gestures: a glance, a touch, the space between two bodies in the long grass." A shoot about closeness, summer light and the quiet tension of three people who can't quite look away from each other. Thank you for everything, team. Another portrait from Sanges’ sitting with Dame Judi Dench for One Step Closer. Photographed entirely on film using the Pentax 67 II — a camera system Sanges has worked with for decades and one that has helped shape the visual language behind much of his analogue practice. Part of an evolving portrait archive documenting significant cultural figures across theatre, film, music and public life, One Step Closer continues to grow as a living record of the people shaping contemporary culture. Selections from the project were exhibited at Dimbola Museum and Galleries alongside the work of Lee Miller, with BBC coverage. Alongside its wider cultural ambition, the project will ultimately support Under One Sky, a London homelessness charity. Dame Judi Dench photographed by Sanges. Part of One Step Closer — an evolving analogue portrait archive documenting significant cultural figures of our time across theatre, film, music and public life. Shot entirely on film using traditional darkroom processes. The archive includes Sir Bob Geldof, Jeremy Irons, Brian Cox, Ron Carter, Lee Child amongst many others with more to come.
