Wow what a whirlwind.

As one of the first professionally trained intimacy professionals in the state of Arizona this award means a great deal to me and the industry

Making safe, brave Theatre is hard but In age where humanness is being taken away, hiring an experienced professional intimacy director continues to make brave and safe rehersal spaces and create shows that center the actor and human experience

And I’m so grateful for Grand Canyon University.

Officially certified as an Intimacy Director for Live Performance with Intimacy Professionals Education Collective (@ipecintimacy ), one of the only few in all of the Southwest.

When considering certification, I wanted the years of training and teaching as an Intimacy Professional to be further aligned with a group that is humanizing, inclusive, and also very detail-oriented about how and who they certify as Intimacy Professionals. Especially being one of SAG-AFTRA Affiliated programs.

After an extensive application and interview process, I am happy to say that it finally happened. I am grateful for the wonderful and intentionally put together certification panel: Raja Benz @thats.mother , D Granke, and Aimy Tien @aimytien for believing in my work.

I wanted to thank those who served as my recommendations, for their friendship, artistry, and kind words: Annika Maher @annikaskywalker97 , Maryann Green @mkfgreenagain , and Christine Arbor @creatingchristine

“we can create spaces of acceptable risk. We can reflect upon our work and the ways in which we approach it; we can identify the risks inherent in a space or process, and we can inform participants of these risks. Clearly acknowledge them and accept that what is perceived as risky or potentially traumatizing to one person may not be seen that way by all other participants. Trauma is subjective, and therefore, which risks are acceptable is also subjective. All we can do is communicate the risks, encourage one another to make the decision about whether these risks are acceptable or not for ourselves, and support each individual’s decision without imposing repercussions or shame for having different boundaries than our own.”

So proud to say I’ve been featured in the American Theatre Magazine as a “Person to watch” alongside some of the brightest lights in the industry.

Day one as Intimacy Coordinator on Bright Star 🌟

Monday was my first rehearsal on Bright Star at GCU, and I’m so grateful to be working with a director who actively advocates for a safe, consent-forward rehearsal room.

We started with ensemble exercises, individual intakes, and conversations around consent, boundaries, and communication laying the foundation for brave, joyful storytelling.

It was a powerful first day with an incredible cast, and I can’t wait to keep building this work together.

So many of you have asked if I’d share more about my life as an Intimacy Director/Coordinator this is just the beginning. 🌟
