A crown may last a year, but being part of the Crown the Lowcountry family lasts forever.

Today, we’re catching up with Constance “Connie” Mixon Kordes, Miss Lowcountry 2025—and we’re especially excited to share that Connie’s Crown the Lowcountry story isn’t over. She is officially joining us as the newest member of our Board of Directors! 💙

In Connie’s own words…

“Since my time with Crown the Lowcountry, I’ve continued pursuing my passion for serving others through advocacy, dance, and event management. I currently work with Encore DCS while also tuning into my sales skills at Southern Blu Boutique in Lexington! I recently got married and moved into the most perfect house, and I’m continuing my education while staying involved in the pageant community.”

“I actually have TWO favorite memories! The first is performing ‘Sandstorm’ and winning a preliminary talent award at Miss South Carolina. The second? Passing out at the Flowertown Festival in Summerville. LOL!” 😂

“My advice? GO FOR IT! Don’t let fear or self-doubt keep you from taking the leap. Whether you win a title or not, you’ll gain confidence, friendships, interview skills, and experiences that stay with you long after the competition. Be yourself, work hard, and enjoy every moment. Your authentic self is your greatest strength—don’t let anyone tell you differently!”

Coming down from my favorite week of the year and realizing three things:

• Success is not measured by landmarks but by growth

•Growth is an indicator that you are exactly where you’re meant to be

•Being authentic and true to yourself will get you further than ever imagined.

For the first time in nine years, I finally realize the truth behind every piece of genuine advice I’ve received. For the first time, the Miss America Opportunity saw Nicole and it led me further than I’ve ever been before. Service, scholarship, style and success may be the points of the Miss America crown but it has been the four points of my year as Miss Grand Strand.

Leaving Columbia as a Top 15 finalist, I can proudly say I’ve advocated for every deaf and hard of hearing student, proven that strength is more important than being thin, and sisterhood exists within the Miss America Opportunity. Most importantly, we did it my way.
