25 years later, and I can still remember every single detail of that morning.

Phil and I were in our West Village apartment. Phil was in the shower. I was getting ready to head out to the @tracy_reese show for Fashion Week.

Then my agent Jim @contactnyc called: “Turn on the @todayshow with @katiecouric … some crazy person accidentally flew into the World Trade Center.”

Of course, we all know now. It was no accident. And that day changed the world forever.

We ran outside and looked up at a sight we never imagined we’d see. Our beloved skyline was gone. And standing there on the street, we knew life would never be the same.

We stayed out there all day with our friends, helping anyone we could. Survivors walked past covered in ash, in shock, like ghosts. We hugged them. We gave them water. We opened our apartment as a safe place to cry, to sit, to just be together.

25 years. A QUARTER OF A CENTURY.

There are grown adults walking around today who weren’t born yet. They know it as history. We know it as a Tuesday morning.

So what have we learned? That we are stronger together. That even in the worst of it, love shows up. Strangers hugged strangers. Tears were shared. Humanity rose in the darkest moment I have ever lived through.

We will NEVER forget. We honor the lives lost, the heroes, the spirits that stayed with us.

And we hold tight to the love that carried us through.

Cherish every single minute ❤️
