What if retirement wasn’t the end of doing something meaningful, but the beginning of something new? 🩵 At 94, Subramanyam Rajamani is still handcrafting folding study tables for children living in slum communities. Not because he has to, but because he still has something to give. बूढ़ा अंकल | IS CRAFTING FUTURES is a simple human story about finding purpose, staying curious about life, and doing something good for someone else simply because you can. There is no big message being forced on you, no extraordinary hero trying to change the world overnight. Just a man, his craft, and a quiet belief that these children deserve a little more. Sometimes, the stories that stay with us the longest remind us that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a difference. And that it’s never too late to begin something meaningful. Maybe that’s what makes his story worth watching. Not just what he creates with his hands, but what he leaves behind in the lives of others. A heartfelt thank you to the film festivals for believing in this story and giving it a platform. Your recognition means a lot. ❤️ To my incredible team, thank you for your collaboration, dedication, and for bringing this story to life with me. Every frame carries a piece of our collective effort. 🎬 #documentaryfilms #filmfestival #independentfilmmakers #indiancinema #theoldunclewhocraftsfutures

At 94, what does it mean to still have something to give to the world? 🩵 Somewhere between the sound of his tools, the patience in his hands, and the tables he builds for children, there is a story that goes beyond age, retirement, or even kindness. बूढ़ा अंकल | IS CRAFTING FUTURES is about Subramanyam Rajamani, a man who reminds us that a meaningful life isn’t measured by how much we achieve for ourselves, but also by what we leave behind for others. While the world often tells us to slow down as we grow older, his story quietly asks us something different: What if we never stop finding reasons to begin again? This film is a little reminder that you don’t have to change the whole world to make a difference in someone’s life. Sometimes, you just have to show up and do what you can. Sharing the trailer of a story that will always hold a special place in my heart. 🎬 Watch the trailer. Meet the man. And discover the story behind the tables. To my incredible team, thank you for believing in this story and putting your hearts into bringing it to life. This film may have one man’s story at its centre, but it will always carry a little piece of everyone who helped tell it. ❤️ #documentaryfilms #independentfilmmakers #indiancinema #humanstories #theoldunclewhocraftsfutures

The Old Uncle Who Crafts Futures — a story of labour, love, and legacy. 🎬 Frame 1 In the first light of morning, his hands wake up before the world. Frame 2 The wood remembers him. His fingers remember every cut. Frame 3 He measures carefully like he’s measuring a child’s future. Frame 4 Old tools. Small room. New hopes. Frame 5 His body pauses. His purpose doesn’t. Frame 6 Every nail goes in with a silent prayer. Frame 7 Maybe a child will sit here someday… study, dream, become something bigger than him. Frame 8 He isn’t just crafting furniture. He’s crafting futures.

Some stories don’t need actors they need truth. Grateful and honoured to present my documentary ‘बूढ़ा अंकल Is Crafting Futures’ at the 16th Panchajanyam International Film Festival (PIFF). As a director, stories like these remind me why I chose documentary filmmaking real people, real impact, real change. Through the journey of a 93-year-old craftsman building study tables for underprivileged children, this film speaks about kindness, perseverance, and social responsibility. Heartfelt thanks to my incredible team who stood by this film and helped bring this story to life, and sincere gratitude to the festival for believing in independent cinema and giving our documentary such a meaningful platform. If you or your family are in Kerala, please join us and experience the rawness of this journey on screen. See you at the screening.🍀 Starring Subramanyam Rajamani Directed, Produced, and Edited by Kashish Kanojia Cinematographer Darshan Lokare Co-Editor and Sound Designer Ravi Khandelwal Music Composer Rakshit Malhotra Colorist Ajinkya Khadpekar Asst.
