A few months ago, we were approached by James Sutton, who has been leading the redesign of Jo Martin’s Fugitive Doctor costume for the upcoming “Circuit Breaker” multimedia event, to create a collection of rings for the character.

Over the course of the project, we produced ten handcrafted brass and copper rings, with two ultimately selected for the final costume. Featuring CNC engraved Gallifreyan patterns developed by Connor Cahill-Hayes specifically for the project, hand-formed construction, and heavily textured aged finishes, the project pushed us into new jewellery-making techniques including bezel setting and traditional metal forming.

One of the final designs, featuring a blue stone setting, was inspired by the ring worn by William Hartnell’s Doctor, connecting the design back to the earliest days of Doctor Who.

We’re excited to finally start sharing this project properly. More images, behind-the-scenes details, and availability information coming soon!

As I start my last day at BBC Studios, I can’t help but look back over the last seven years and think how it has been the absolute time of my life.

I first joined not knowing if I’d be there for more than a month, and somehow I stuck around!

Beyond all the amazing experiences, places, and talent I’ve been able to work with - the thing that has made this time so special… is the people.

The old days in the office pre covid, the Christmas parties (back when the bar was free), shoots, late nights, all shared with truly the best of people.

This job has seen me through twenties, and I truly believe helped me to become the semi-functioning adult I am now - and I’m sure our paths will cross again sometime in the future.

Until the next time 💙
