POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

A closer look at the collection.

From Tom Stewart’s distinctive pipe in St Andrews to George Nicoll’s helping hand from Leven, the marks on these clubs tell the story of Scottish clubmaking and its influence around the world.

Look a little closer and you’ll find owners’ initials, retailers’ stamps, irons marked with their intended playing distances, and heads designed for unique scenarios like escaping bunkers. Small details that tell us how the game and its equipment have evolved over time.

No two quite the same. Come take a closer look at 8 Golf Place.

Big thanks to @cookiejargolf and @haylinggolf for having us.

Links golf at its best!

A proper test of golf at @haylinggolf

Plenty of wind, some sunshine, a few birdies, a few bogeys and the occasional battle with those incredible bunkers!

A brilliant day spent with an even better group of people. @bywilliamdownes @jackdpnorman @efbh_films

Already looking forward to another round here! 🙌

What a day at Hayling Golf Club!

The wind was blowing, the sun was shining, and the course was looking incredible. Perfect links golf conditions, made even better by great company. @jackdpnorman @efbh_films @bywilliamdownes

A big thank you for the invite @haylinggolf @cookiejargolf @lukefromthejar
An absolute pleasure to be part of it.

And as usual, @bywilliamdownes was there capturing it all in his own cinematic way. 🎥

And yes, I did duck my head chipping over that deep bunker! 😂 I was just happy to get it on the green for a putt!

The Quest for 1000: #815 this could be the best 9 hole in the world. More penal than the Grand Parcourse and had greens that brought back memories of the Himalayas at St Andrews. It was also laid out by Tom Simpson and measures 2800 yards. It has 3 par fives 3 par fours and 3 par threes. The first 5 holes are part of the original layout and 2-5 are among the best holes on the property. — at Golf de Morfontaine.

The Quest for 1000: #814 World #41 and #1 in Europe. Originally built in 1913 by architect Tom Simpson for the 12th Duke of Gramont (Armand de Gramont) on a former family estate polo field. Spans roughly 340 acres inside the former Vallière park, blending classic British-style parkland and sandy heathland aesthetics featuring pine, heather, fern, and moss-covered rock outcrops. This is a cross between Swinley Forest, Royal Hague, and San Francisco GC. Architect Kyle Phillips modernized selected holes between 2005 and 2016 while preserving the original design integrity. It is golf heaven and likely in anyones top 5 lucky enough to play here. The reverse camber of multiple fairways is a design feature unseen in any other piece of land and there are simply 18 World Class holes here.

The Quest for 1000: #813 and another crown Jewel in Norfolk. Founded 125 years ago and sits overlooking the Wash. The only west facing course on the east coast of the UK. Its ranked 29 in England and 65 in GBI after extensive renovations including the 1st 8th 10th and 18th. It was designed by George Fernie with updates along the way by James Braid and Ken Cotton. The famous 16th was the hole where in 1974 Bob Taylor made a hole in one 3 days in a row!!!

Longest drive wins. It has to stay low.

Wednesday, September 30. What happened in golf in the last 24 hours. Could you keep a driver under the trees?

@dpworldtour got Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood and Ludvig Aberg hitting stingers for distance at Wentworth, 115,000 views. @goodgood took the RV to Washington for day two of 50 States in 50 Days, 494,000 views. @divotdudes.golf put up $1,000 for anyone who could outdrive @braddalke40, and @brysondechambeau is on day eight of the $100,000 backyard tournament.

Creator of the day is @cookiejargolf, who played every hole on the Isle of Arran in one day: seven courses, 95 holes, sunrise to sunset, for Arran Cancer Support. 34,700 subscribers and worth every one. Go follow them.

At the U.S. Mid-Amateur, Sand Valley caddie Matt Hutchins pulled his calf on the 11th green, had treatment in the 13th fairway and still won his match to reach the quarterfinals at the Lido. Also on YouTube: @meitusbrosgolf put $10,000 on a four club match with Joey Cold Cuts, and @nolayingup followed Tron Carter from London to Alaska for a Mid-Am qualifier.

And in Vermont, a 5.8 handicap made a hole in one and two albatrosses in 14 days. Someone worked out the odds: 1 in 14.5 quadrillion.
