A quality that separates one artist from the other is their capability to capture a story on a single image.

This incredible sketch card sized painting by Nahuel Grego captures Silver Surfer moments before facing Doctor Doom, with Doom looming in the reflection of the Surfer’s metallic skin. It feels like that split second before everything erupts, Surfer staring down one of Marvel’s most dangerous and relentless villains.

What blows me away is how much Grego accomplished on such a tiny canvas. The reflection, lighting, depth, expression, and atmosphere all work together to make this feel less like a sketch card and more like a scene frozen in time.

@nahuelgregoart my friend, this is a masterpiece! Thank you so much!

Silver Surfer vs. Doctor Doom.

WHY BGS IS HERE TO STAY 💎

While PSA manages its legal storms and heavy backlogs, Beckett (BGS) remains an immovable rock in the high-end hobby.

Looking directly at recent transaction data for the 2015 Fleer Retro Marvel Metal Ghost Rider PMG Blue

BGS 8.5 (Near Mint-Mint) $2,500.00 USD
Sold August 26, 2026
PSA 8 (Near Mint-Mint)$1,500.00 USDSold June 25, 2026
Raw / Ungraded Copy$991.76 USDSold August 16, 2026

A BGS 8.5 copy commanding $1,000 more than a PSA 8 version of the exact same rare Marvel key variant represents an incredible premium. While a half-grade bump typically accounts for a slight pricing lift, a 66% price surge for Beckett indicates that collectors are aggressively valuing BGS slabs for high-end Marvel inserts.

Marvel collectors are remembering exactly why BGS is uniquely suited for premium cards. Unlike standard plastic holders, the heavy, premium-weighted Beckett slab and inner clear sleeve protect fragile, easily chipped 90s retro metal surfaces and thick card stocks flawlessly. Furthermore, BGS sub-grades provide complete transparency—breaking down centering, corners, edges, and surface—giving high-end investors complete clarity that avoids the "black box" subjective grading fears currently driving the federal class-action claims.

The data proves that BGS isn't going anywhere. As trust wavers under modern corporate monopolies, the free market is speaking louder than ever.
