I had to post big smiles for this first image, because it felt so good to get to this point at the end of last week!

Right now we are only about 1/5th of the way to completion, but getting a big section on the wall felt like a major accomplishment. So many people’s efforts have gone into this project, and towards creating an incredible experience for the kids at PJJSC.

Would not have been able to get to this point without ❤️ VOLE ❤️, Jayden, Heather, @stevedolph , PJJSC staff, Khalif, @coolhandmiz and @thevelocityfund.

The first 4 photos are all from the last week, preparing for the April, May and June section of greens to go on the wall.

The last two images show some of the process which led to this point, and which will be part of the next stage adding color (last slide.)

Colors of the Healing Garden is a collaborative art project and mural that builds on the horticulture program at the Philadelphia Juvenile Justice Services Center. Participants engage in a series of individual and group projects leading to the creation of a permanent relief-style mural. The mural will be composed of individually painted blocks of scrap wood that will reflect the changing colors of the garden over time.

Nearly seven years ago, @ultraclay and @ms_collycol founded Black Food Folks as a way to bring Black food professionals together and form community face to face. In the years since, we became more known for our online presence, but at the core, we’ve always been about forming real bonds in person.

In 2026, we’re escaping the Matrix and taking the party back to the real world. We kick off on Monday in Detroit with our happy hour with @hosp.included and plan to go on through the year with public and invite-only gatherings, creating safe spaces in an unsafe world.
