I have been thinking about championships this year. It’s been 10 years since I stumbled into my first messenger championships in Copenhagen and Paris, feeling perhaps the most shy I’ve ever felt.

I helped organise the European Messenger Championship @ecmc2026 this year in Berlin along with a team of around 15 people. And in the run-up, somewhere between schlepping boxes, thinking about everything that’s changed in the last 10 years, riding around feeling magic thinking about everyone soon to descend onto Berlin, there was also time for a happy cry in the kitchen. The championship itself is a blur of busyness to the point I can barely remember half the faces I saw, but going to other championships since it has had a certain extra sweetness.

I find myself looking at old championship photos and realising that I now know more faces in the photos than when I took them. How all these little trips have helped pad out and colour in all the details of these old photos.

The way I experience community and feel friendship has changed, my understanding of the effort that we put into things, the value of building things, my understanding of love, and how I hold people a little tighter in my heart when we say see you soon. It cannot all come from championships but it has definitely been changed by them. What an honour.

This past weekend marked the finale of an incredible run of events and Messenger Championships that kicked off in May in Warsaw (@preecmc26), rolled through Berlin (@ecmc2026) and Switzerland (@suicmc26 ), then headed to Milan for the Messenger World Championships (@cmwc2026 ), before finishing in the beautiful coastal city of Genova for the closing celebration @postcmwc2026 🎉

Nearly a month of alleycats, group rides, campouts, competition, and friendships sparking unforgettable memories along the way.

We were lucky enough to catch the final main race at @postcmwc2026: a brutal three-hour work-simulation race weaving through the steep streets of Genova, with a few messenger games thrown in for good measure. Only the truly dedicated Pro’s were in attendance , so it was no surprise to see so many @kryptonitelocks in the mix 😏.

What a way to wrap up an epic month of messenger culture, racing, and community 🫡

It took me a couple of days to process what happened, but now that I’ve slept 15 hours and regained some energy, I can sit down and try to write down some thoughts.
These six days, between group rides and the post-event in Genova, have been simply wonderful.
The care, love, kindness, and boundless friendship I’ve experienced are incomparable. Finally being able to chat more calmly, get to know people better, share dinners, breakfasts, dips in the sea, the heat, the fatigue and the chistoling.
I’m always amazed by the altruism and sense of community that exists among bike messengers, and how little it takes to feel good.
I’d like to thank each and every one of the people who participated, helped, and contributed to making these six days a first-rate “couriers summer camp”🏖️
I’m also incredibly happy that people were able to learn about our life, work, and the place we call home (hoping I’ve convinced you to come live here hehe).

Thanks to La Campeggia, Carlo and Andrea in Fontanigorda, Zapata for the housing, and @_liotu_ and @el_raptor_777 for being the best organizational teammates ❤️

Hoping Genoa can host you again very soon, in the meantime, we’ll see you in Bogotá!🤌🏽✨🧚🏾

Last friday and saturday @satellitberlin shared its spaces with the messenger comunity during the Europian Championship!

We hosted half an exhibition half a race, or we should say an Alleycat!

Welcome to the ECMC Race Course.

Tempelhofer Feld was our dream location when we pitched for ECMC. We can’t wait for you to race on it.

The former airport is a symbol of the city. The people of the city voted to protect the massive space from gentrification - and continue to - and it’s now home to runways (2), kiteboarders, skateboarders, rollerbladers, community gardens, birds, dogs, flowers, minigolfers, runners, cyclist, historians, families, and lovers. And it’s a mean place to watch a sunset.

There’s a huge area for ECMC full of surfaces. Our News Team provides an informational report for you. Luckily since filming, the sun has also appeared in the city.
