Great show last night with Willi Carlisle and band. Absolutely charmed by Dylan Earl who opened. And the sweetest crowd.
If you have a chance to see Willi Carlisle or Dylan Earl, treat yourself.
Thanks to Patrick for the Birthday present ticket.

“Altar to Craft”
Arrowmont Workstudy Cohort Summer 2026 (session 2)
Kudzu dyed silk and cotton, enameled copper, soda fired ocarina flute, ceramic goblet, wood-turned figure, lavender basket, crushed-can broach, various found objects.

This little altar came about through the collaborative spirit of my workstudy cohort at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts this summer. My fellow workstudy students and I began naturally building little collections of objects we found and made during our time in Gatlinburg. There is something about craft community that encourages one to see the beauty and potential in the simplest things. When Mark Errol announced the opening of his ‘Teeny Tiny Staff Gallery’ on campus, I knew one of our little collections would be the perfect way to incapsulate our time as workstudy students. These objects came to reflect our deep gratitude for the experience we were given and respect for each other as artists. We found that our passion for craft, regardless of the diversity of mediums we practice, connected us deeply. With this altar, we hoped to uplift these small works and to highlight our shared dedication to craft.

Although our practices differ, each of these incredible artists were infinitely inspiring and motivating to work with and to learn from. Thank you all for helping me set up such a lovely display, I am so happy to have collaborated with you! I hope to work together again some day :)

A love letter to Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts 💕

Spending this summer as a workstudy student at Arrowmont was an incredibly inspiring experience. I was grateful to take 3 workshops in new skills that revealed new paths for my practice. I began my time there with a class in botanical printing and natural dye techniques taught by Jan Quarels. I tried my hand at sculpture for the first time with Niki Havekost who led a soft sculpture class. Finally, I was very happy to try enameling with the guidance of Tanya Crane. More than just being an exceptional source of art education, Arrowmont showed me the potential and importance of community amongst artists. My cohort included many talented and ambitious craft artists who fostered an encouraging atmosphere. We all pushed ourselves to explore, teaching one another about our respective crafts and finding art in everything around us. I feel I have grown so much from this experience and it has emboldened me to continue strengthening my work and pursuing a career in the arts!

Be on the lookout for photos of my work from these workshops once I have a chance to properly photograph everything!

Thank you to Arrowmont for this opportunity, thank you to my instructors for all of your guidance, and most of all thank you to my cohort who I hope to keep as lifelong friends :)
