SUFFOLK ARE YOUR WINNERS. @balancednyc @balancedpickup This Sunday on Father’s Day, we held our third-ever event, and I loved every second of it. This is exactly why Balanced was started. Two years ago, I started this brand in my college dorm after being kicked off my collegiate program for wrongdoing I didn’t even compete in. I took the fall so my roommates wouldn’t lose their scholarships. Camera: @barsallomedia @davefleeyo I had to reinvent myself. I lost fútbol. But God handed me tools I already had that just needed to be awakened. At 16, I tried starting a brand called Average16YearOld. I bought 300 pairs of grip socks and sold 60. The rest sat in my closet for four years. That page became Long Island Clips. Long Island Clips became BalancedFutbol. The page eventually got terminated for copyright, but by then I already had the vision. I knew one day the clothes would tell a story deeper than a garment. Then came the events. The first event paid out $1,000. Four players went on to sign MLS NEXT Pro contracts. The second was New York vs. New Jersey. Julian Hall pulled up. MLS NEXT scouts came. New York won $1,000. Then came the third. Father’s Day. Suffolk wins $1,000. My father was always working. That meant he wasn’t around much physically, but soccer was how we bonded. He’d take me to games, we’d grab Taco Bell, and we’d make memories. As I got older, I had to grow up fast. I learned how to survive young in Far Rockaway, Queens. I took trains, buses, and rides from teammates just to make it to training and matches. After games, I noticed something. My teammates always had someone waiting for them after the final whistle. I usually didn’t. This day is for you, Dad. And for every father making sacrifices nobody sees. Fútbol isn’t just a ball. It creates friendships, relationships, opportunities, and memories that last forever. A ball formed my life. Everything happens for a reason. Everyone has a story. If you can survive New York, you can survive anywhere. Not because of ego. Because New Yorkers know how to keep going when life gives them every reason not to. Happy Father’s Day. ❤️ NYC rules the world. #mlsnext #nyc #futbol
