Please - this is self-defense using my best offense - my brain! This is not me acting out of any community-diagnosed disorder 🖕I was told PT and surgery was a “genius business model”. Here I thought it was HEALTH, not death. I am sharing my truth. Facts stripped of emotion, analysis with science and rigor, and presented as a mirror. If I show up missing, IU health is my bookie. They hold my debts. Link in the bio.

Arts & culture work 🤝🏽 Coop Business This October, during co-op month, Ebony from our team had the opportunity to present at the NCBA CLUSA - a 110 year old national cooperative business association that brings together a variety of sectors - annual co-op conference, IMPACT. Co-ops are still largely unknown as a business model in the U.S., especially in the arts. We gave a talk to affirm that we do exist, that we want to be included more in the co-op ecosystem, and suggested using art to make the cooperative and solidarity economies irresistible. While there, we learned from @51stnews and @defectormedia, worker-owned news platforms funded by member subscriptions, which reminded us of the power of collectivism to overcome divestment in industries like journalism. We also appreciated the inaugural film festival as a medium for cooperative storytelling. These gatherings are so important for igniting imagination and collaboration, closing the silos between us and infusing more art into conferences and cooperative organizing nationwide! Thank you @estebanitos of @usfwc and @itsanhthu of @wearedawi for your support in connecting us to the cooperative business ecosystem! #artdotcoop #cooperativeecosystem #ncba #media #coopimpact #gocoop #workplacedemocracy #art #economicdemocracy #culturepower #organizing

Yesterday at the “Creative Labor, Creative Conditions,” gathering hosted by @dcjazzfest and @dorisdukefdn, Art.coop co-founder @CarolineWoolard was asked, “Why fund artist and culture workers right now? Why prioritize funding culture workers ?” Caroline: “Fund us because we will help you win. Look at the @zohrankmamdani campaign (as an observer) … the reason that such a cooperative campaign rooted in land trusts and public grocery stores could win in the wealthiest city in the wealthiest nation in the world is because cultural organizers were at the heart of that campaign! We are going to help you win and many of us are already in those spaces, but you don’t see us wearing those hats!” Art.coop - an emerging solidarity economy arts institution transforming the creative sector through cooperative principles and practices - uplifts, supports, and connects artists and culture workers who are building the (art) worlds we want through the practices and principles of the Solidarity Economy; where they are their own bosses, there are no landlords, and they decide how money flows. Join us by signing up to our newsletter at our website, read our report “Solidarity Not Charity” for @grantmakersinthearts, check out our directory of artist-led economic justice practices, take one of our free courses with “Creative Study,” or dig in with our “Remember the Future” fellows building the creative solidarity economy, now! #collectivecourage #solidarityeconomy #cooperation #culture #cultureworkers #creativelabor #art #creativeconditions #fundcreativeworkers #divest #invest #justculturaltransition #artdotcoop #pollinatorcoop
